ramby Posted September 13, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 13, 2010 Curious as to whether non-smokers will find that there is too much cigarette smoke on this ship. What is the smoking policy?
amylee1178 Posted September 13, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 13, 2010 It's really not that bad.. it's mostly non-smoking except in designated areas. Half of the cigar bar, one side of Lido, part of the casino, and the Piano Bar were the only ones we noticed. It's definitely easily avoidable if the smoke bothers you. We're non-smokers and I have a lot of allergies. The only place that bothered me was the smell of the Piano Bar when we were in there for Afternoon Tea. IMHO, it's really not the right place to have it, simply because it's an enclosed space (it has a door) and the ventilation in there isn't very good. Julienatul Posted September 13, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 13, 2010 Depends on the amount of cruisers who smoke. Ive been on some sailings that were horrible with smoke and others barely noticeable. It just depends on how many smokers are there in that area at a particular time. On the outer decks, one side is smoking and the other is non-smoking and all dining areas and the show lounge is non-smoking.
*Mach* Posted September 13, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 13, 2010 I've sailed on the Inspiration several times and the only places where the smoke smell lingered was the casino and the piano bar... right where you'd expect it to. The starboard side of the open Lido Deck pool area is smoking but it's OPEN... no smoke lingers there, either. If you want to avoid any semblance of smoke on the Lido use the port side to transit. I think you'll love the ship. I sure do! :)
SkyMaster Posted September 13, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 13, 2010 I agree with Mach! The only places where smoke was really noticeable, was the casino, and the piano bar. The piano bar may, or may not be smokey when you sail, as it's up to the piano man/lady whether he/she allows smoking in there or not. If you're lucky, piano bar won't be smokey either! :D Other than those two areas, "Inspiration" is GREAT! "SKY"

Sorry to be so pesky about this, but just a little smoke triggers all of our allergies. I can live with avoiding the casino and one bar. But think I'd be miserable if we had to avoid the outdoor areas of the ship due to smoke wafting over from the other side of the Lido---or if our cabins were to stink from smoke! You may want to try a more restrictive line then. Rccl doesn't allow smoking in cabins. You might be happier there or Celebrity. If it were my family's health I would want to choose a line that was more restrictive. The policies are what they are.

Smoking is allowed in cabins, so your neighbors may smoke, and you may be able to smell it!

yogimax Posted September 15, 2010 #11 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Honest answer - yes. Especially in and outside the casino. My guess is that the newer ships have much better ventilation systems. The smoke was also quite noticable in the hallways outside the cabins. I really felt bad for the room stewards who had to clean those cabins. I'm surprised that they don't demand that smoking be banned in the cabins. Guess they're afraid of losing their jobs.
