Wi-Fi in cabin on Noordam

To bring my laptop or use one in the Explorer's Lounge? Convenice versus cost? Thanks for any help. I'm sure this had been answered before but I've missed it.

Every cabin on Noordam has WiFi. It is the same price whether you use your own computer in your cabin or other public area on the ship or use the ship's computers in the EXPLORATIONS Cafe.

 

You can use ship's internet for 75 cents per minute

100 minutes for $55 plus one time start up charge of $3.95

250 minutes for $100 plus same start up charge.

 

I bring our Acer Netbook and find the connections slow, like on most ships, and I enjoy the convenience of having my own computer.

I have never had any problems using my laptop on any HAL ship.

Keep in mind that the Internet is not high speed. Taking your own laptop means that you can copy and paste off-line saving you minutes. You can not do this with the ship's computers.

Internet Prices:

It doesn't make any difference whether you bring your own laptop or use the ship's computers -- the price is the same -- no free WiFi.

 

The advantage of having your own laptop is that you can work off-line and then just copy and paste once you are online -- will save minutes. The internet is slooooow.

 

There is a one time $3.95 activation fee.

 

Plan 1 - $0.75 per minute

 

Plan 2 - $55 for 100 minutes

 

Plan 3 - $100 for 250 minutes.

 

Most ships will offer 10 free minutes for Plan 2 and 20 free minutes for Plan 3 if you sign up for a plan on embarkation day. Check with the Internet Manager.
