golf4tonys Posted October 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Yikes!!! Showing 8 ships in St Thomas on Feb 16th 2011. Can that really be true? What is the impact?
Snackdaddy Posted October 15, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Traffic, traffic and more traffic. If you are taking a private tour make sure your tour guide leaves plenty of time to get you back to the ship. We were in St. Thomas when there were six ships in port including the Oasis. It took us forever to get back to the ship.
seashinesunshine Posted October 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 19, 2010 I think that St Thomas has many ships every day, very popular port, lots more people and traffic, but still fun.
nasa1974 Posted October 21, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 21, 2010 I checked and it looks like we have 4 ships in port at the time we will be there, potential of 13,000 people on shore. With 8 ships in port I think I would stay on the ship.

michelle1836 Posted October 21, 2010 #7 Share Posted October 21, 2010  I agree with the above poster about leaving enough time to get back to the ship. I was there a few years ago (not cruising) and there was so much traffic we missed our flight home

Hi: We'll be in St. Thomas on Fri 11/12 on the Explorer and we checked and saw the Celebrity Mercury will be there as well. No other ships that day! Just in case anyone needs this information. Safe sails.

Cruisin Kay D Posted October 22, 2010 #10 Share Posted October 22, 2010 Agree!!! Definitely a great website!!! Never knew about this one before today -- Used to use CruiseCal before the founder/owner made it a subscription website. Knowing how many other ships are at each port with us helps a great deal in planning our port activities and how early to get off our ship for an activity. If there are alot of ships in same port together, it's also nice to find out what times they all arrive and depart, which gives you an idea if how much road traffic there will be. Watch the cruisett.com website. It is not updated often. My last cruise in September 2010 had our ship, the Carnival Legend, in Belize and Roatan the wrong dates. Also, the NCL Sun is set to be in St. Thomas on 11/3 and it is not on the list. Cruisett shows only 4 ships in port that day, when in reality there are 5.:(
