Changing the two beds to one

It is, but miscommunications happen. Our bed had to be pulled apart on our last cruise. When the Steward came by we asked for it to be pulled apart and we then went for lunch. By the time we came back, it had been done.

Thank you everyone. Of course the cruise is in April, but being a first timer I am anxious and curious all the same :)

Don't stress out, have a great cruise. Keep posting your questions and once onboard the crew will take good care of you!

As the others said, you can just tell your cabin steward the first afternoon. He/she will stop by your cabin sometime that first day. But, there are other ways depending on the cruise line. Some lines actually ask you when you book. On many other lines you can log onto the cruise line web site and set up your online profile. Usually there is a place in the profile where you can put your preferences such as the bed being put together. These profiles are saved and when you have cruise again they will still follow your profile unless you go online and make changes. With most lines it is important to establish your online account so that you can complete the immigration questionaire (the lines must have this info in advance). If you fail to complete this stuff you will usually hear from the cruise line (or your travel agent) before your cruise so they can get that info.

This may seem like a silly question, but how do you make sure that the two beds are put together in the cabin. The room (G oceanview) states that it has two lower beds, however I would like just one big bed.

Everyone has answered your question completely, however I just have a sidenote. If your cruise line offers it (just ask to see if they do), when you arrive ask your room steward(ess) for an egg crate for the top of your mattress.

Sometimes when they put the two twins together you can feel the split in the two beds. Not always, but sometimes. My husband and I have started requesting an egg crate for the top of the mattress and it works out wonderfully!

Just a side note as I didn't see which ship you were on, but sometimes the beds cannot be put together (or pulled apart). It will usually be described on the website for that particular room (check the little key to make sure you don't have the symbol that makes your room unique).
