Peteymil Posted November 11, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2010 Has anyone done a Hot Air Balloon ride recently during a Baltic Cruise? If so could you tell where you did it and what the experience was like. Thanks
The worldtravel Posted November 11, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2010 I'm keeping my fingers crossed you get a reply. That's one thing I haven't done on a cruise and I really want to. Good luck with replies.

north-bound Posted November 13, 2010 #4 Share Posted November 13, 2010 I think baloon rides may be difficult to do on a one day cruise stop. The baloons I have seen here in Stockholm are either early in the morning or, most of them, in the evening around eight or nine.
cindymouse42 Posted January 9, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 9, 2011 I would be interested in any info too! I tried finding info online, but have had difficulty in getting a response. Thank you.
cruiselen Posted January 12, 2011 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2011 The agency we had tours with last July - Palladium Travel - had offered us hot air baloon rides, but we thought we didn't have enough time for it. The offer was a one hour ride in the vicinity of Catherine's palace.
Rare TLCOhio Posted January 13, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 13, 2011 Has anyone done a Hot Air Balloon ride recently during a Baltic Cruise? If so could you tell where you did it and what the experience was like. Thanks We were signed up to do the balloon trip in Stockholm through our cruise ship in August, 2008. How did it work? The weather got "iffy" late in the afternoon and they had to scrub the trip. Too many clouds, looming threat of rain and higher winds, etc. Sorry!!! Things happen. north-bound made an excellent point that if you are in Stockholm for only a one-day visit, there might not be time. My understanding is that many of these balloon trips are done late afternoon as the weather, on average, is more stable, better. We were overnight in Stockholm, so we had full later-afternoon flexibility. If your ship is departing at 5 or 6 pm, it would be hard or impossible to make those logistics work. My understanding is that only a limited number of cities will allow such balloon over-flights. Stockholm is great area to consider such a trip. Hope it works. THANKS! Enjoy! Giantfan13 Posted January 13, 2011 #8 Share Posted January 13, 2011 That does sound like something that might be very interesting, but only if you are over nighting in a port. We tried for a balloon ride, but not in the Baltics. we went to a hot air balloon festival in NJ one summer. And, like everyone has said, the balloons only go up early morning and late afternoon. well, we booked an afternoon ride, but just our luck, the sky darkened, the rain started and that was the end of that. Hopefully, another time Cheers Len
cindymouse42 Posted January 15, 2011 #9 Share Posted January 15, 2011 Has anyone done a hot air balloon ride in Copenhagen, Denmark? We will be in port for 2 days. I know the rides are offered in Sweden, but only in the morning and afternoon - we are only in port there from 8-5, so its not possible. Any help is welcome! LordWinston Posted January 18, 2011 #10 Share Posted January 18, 2011 Okay, I was searching around. I found this site. Looks like Rostock has balloons. Cruise ship passengers may get in too late to do it. Looks a little pricey, but what fun! http://www.flugagentur-mv.de/index.php?reset=y&action=acttype&pActtype=Ballonfahrt Alan
