Are the pools on the Millie fresh or salt?

Hi all~

DH and I are considering a Med cruise on the Millie this October. This would be our first X experience, and I was wondering about the pools. Are they fresh or salt water? I'm not sure how much we'd use the pools that late in the season, but I much prefer fresh to salt.

The only major cruiseline that I know of that has regular water in their pools is Princess. Celebrity definitely has salt water. enjoy your cruise!

You should take an old swimsuit if you plan to use the hot tubs or the Thallasotherapy pool. The combination of heat, salt and chemicals will probably fade your swimsuit and can weaken the elastic-y part of the fabric. :eek:

We have found on all cruise lines the salt water is fairly well filtered thus not giving you the feeling of swimming in the ocean. The old suit idea would be useful if you are planning on spending many hours in the pools, but if you are just using them a few hours the entire cruise I wouldn't worry about it much. I've never swam in a salt water pool. Can you taste the salt, & does it burn your eyes like the ocean does? TIA :)

It tastes like the ocean and feels like the ocean in your eyes. It is the (filtered) ocean.

If you want to use the pools to swim - do it early.

I would think before 10:00am or so.

Then maybe after 5:00pm when the pool deck empties out.

i was raised in So Calif and spent many days on the beaches and in the ocean. The salt water on the M class ships or most other lines for that matter are well filtered. yes, you will taste the salt a bit, but it is nothing like the ocean. NMnita

Thanks for the question. We have always sailed HAL and it didn't occur to me that the pools might be salt water, HAL has fresh water.

 

I also prefer fresh water pools, but I think I prefer the Celebrity Med itineraries more.

I am really surprised to hear HAL has fresh water pools. I can not argue, but the one we were on did not and I never heard that before. NMNita
