New Years Eve Imagination Questions

We sail on new years eve...will that be a dressy nite?

It seems I am sailing alone so I am not sure if it matters...lol

I am going with a girlfriend and we want to get a bit swanky for new years eve but embarkation nite is usually casual...what do you think?

Does Carnival do anything special for new year eve?

We were on a cruise for New Year's Eve 2008 - no fireworks though...darn! It was on the Freedom. It is not a desginated "elegant night," though I thought it would be. Ship follows the regular schedule with regard to that. That said, the vast majority of guests dressed really nice for dinner (in fact everyone I saw), as they would if going to a really nice New Year's Eve dinner or party at a club. Most did not change for the deck party, but others did. The party out on the deck did not last that long after midnight, most people moved inside for the club, casino or one of the bar areas. If you like to dress up, go for it! It's a fun way to spend New Year's Eve. Enjoy!!!

And, by the way, you are not "sailing alone." You are going with your girlfriend. Sometimes that makes for the most fun traveling (don't let my husband read this - lol).

We sailed New Years eve on the Ecstasy - it was great! There was free champagne on the Lido deck prior to the life boat drill, they put horns and hats on our bed at turn down, the Captain blew the horns at midnight and I think you could dress up or down as much as you like. :D
