b 2 b cabin changes

We have done this twice. No problems. We left the hanging clothes on the hangers and packed everything else. Some on this board have said that they left things in drawers and switched them out in the second room. We always meet with the room stewards the day before so that they ready the second room first.

I have a back to back on eclipse booked, I am changing staterooms for each cruise, I have read that the room attendants will help with moving clothes etc, has anyone had experience of this at all. Thanks for any information.

It's so much easier if you get the same room on both legs of the trip. Part of the joy of a B2B is not having to pack at the end of 7 days.

Assuming you're choosing to have different rooms.

Judy,

My original booking had me in the same room for both cruises, however I was offered a really good deal to upgrade to Aqua Class for the second week so I decided to do it, it gives me a chance to use the MDR in the first week and Blu for the second, its nice to have some variation as the MDR menus would be the same for the second week.

Hi,

We did B2B in June on Millie with 2 different staterooms : piece of cake.

Week #1 steward , upon getting call from week # 2 collegue , (room #### is made up) immediately met him and they both moved stuff on hangers from one room to another;they had suggested we pack small, breakables and ''private'' items in a suit case ( we had ) which they took accross to the other room. Other ''bulky stuff in drawer'': they ''bagged'' and moved them. Only took a mere few minutes. Meanwhile, we were down at guest relations to get our new stuff, have our pix taken again.....just in time for the new embarkation to commence, right on the same deck....and got our ''embarkation champer'' all over again !!!!

PLUS;; we had a lunch exclusively for B2Bers, in the MDR, wine included !!!

Quite civilized, I must say. Didn't even have to get off the ship.

Almost identical to a B2B on Century july 08 in Amsterdam, ...

If you do a B2B in the USA, however....you MUST get off the ship, even for ''supposedly'' a short while and escorted....C&BP's regulations, you see.....

Cheers

We recently did a B2B on Summit with a room change.

Our Butler was the same, as were the room attendants so there was no coordination in terms of different employees.

Bart our butler even offered to pack us up and move everything for us, however, we did not want to trouble him as embark/disembark day is the worst by far in terms of workload for him. It was a great experience, Bart put us on priorty in terms of room readiness, once the PAX in our new room left, he moved our luggage immediatly, and arranged for the room to be cleaned as well.

You are given the option to disembark with a transit pass or wait in Michaels lounge and disembark with the rest of the B2B passengers. I would suggest against doing this. On our cruise, there was a delay as they could not account for 1 pax, so they had to clear the whole ship, escort the b2b er's into the peir area (which was hot, sticky and humid in SJ), they had to wait, standing, for quite some time (more than an hour). Sure, this may not be everyones experience, but it is something that I would have not wanted to do myself. Instead, we disembarked and showed customs and immigration our transit passess, they waved us right through, we spent a great morning in old san juan jumped in a cab and were back onboard by 12pm- not too long after those who waited in Michaels lounge were allowed to get back on the ship. There was a huge line to check in outside the pier to go through security, we showed our transit passess and were escorted to the front of the line.

Hi c-legs,

Many thanks for the useful info, changing rooms seems very straight forward. The Eclipse is a Miami change over and I thought I would have to leave the ship for immigration so you have confirmed this.

Having a UK passport I will probably have to present myself to the authorities with all the other non US citizens early in the morning.

One other suggestion is to ask for wire hangers to hang your clothes. This was the only way we were able to have them moved other than packing them in suitcases. We left the ship early with other pax and did not have a problem which worked out well since we were on the same cruise as Rothjer. Many B2Ber's had to wait 1 to 2 hours standing in the heat before they were allowed back on the ship. We walked around OSJ and returned to the ship before the new pax were allowed on. It was nice to walk around the ship while it was almost empty.

:( Hardly the case for us, I am afraid to say, on the Eclipse Nov 17-27.

We moved only 'across the hall' (AQ) -- and had reminded our steward numerous times, yet he still gave us the embarkation papers/tags the night before. Early the morning of, we asked if we could get some help, so that we didn't have to schlep everything ourselves, and were met with blank stares. I refused to do it, so I just put all our bags outside our door in the morning, with our 2nd cruise luggage tags (that we had gotten in the mail) plastered all over everything. I left all our hanging things intact however, still in the closet. Around 9ish (am) I couldn't find a soul to tell what I had done, either on our hall, or the other, so I pulled one of the tags off a bag and stuck it on the outside of the closet, so our steward would see where our clothes had to go!

Off we went to the Passport Bar a little before 10 am, our B2B assigned meeting place... (oh yes, we never :eek: got any info about what we were supposed to do in a b2b, so early that morning I asked at Guest Relations and they just said "meet at the Passport Bar.")

For over an hour at least, we all waited in the P-Bar, and then were finally escorted off ship, did customs, and then made to wait standing still -- again in a hall, while they figured out what to do with us! Finally, the officer accompanying us (extremely professional and apologetic, but nothing she could do), told us to just go out and cut in front of anyone at the long counter in the terminal where all the new pax were checking in. Many irritated pax, let me tell you!

After having to go through the WHOLE check in again, signing, etc, new credit card, new health affidavits, etc, we were herded to get our pics taken, then into another waiting area... with only a few seats, enough for only about third of us. And there we waited for another hour! Lots of people sitting on the floor...:( Finally, about 12:30 or later, we were told 'Okay, you can go back on board, and go to the buffet to have lunch." we walked on in the midst of all the other new pax! So, it took almost three hours, lots of waiting and being shuffled around, only to be already inundated with lines at the buffet! No champagne, nothing!

After eating, we went to our new cabin, and found our bags sitting inside, and the clothing hung in the closet, thank goodness, and then proceeded to unpack again... (During our original wait in the passport bar, my Bf went back up to the cabin to look for any steward, and found 2 guys, gave them a ten, and asked them to move the hanging stuff. He had to show them from which cabin to which however!)

We also had booked the same cabin originally, which was precisely why we did the b2b, but later found out, even after being assured by Celebrity that it wasn't a problem, I read a brand new CC posting from someone on the TA, that our cabin was extremely noisy. So, I scrambled to switch, and we had to take what was left, and that meant 2 different cabins.

HOPEFULLY, to the OP, Eclipse has gotten the hang of this over the last three weeks, and will do better. All of us b2b'ers waiting in the terminal were joking about how at least being we should have been given a snack by Celebrity... after all, it had been at least 2 hours since we had last eaten! :D Oh well, live and learn!

Hi SugarLover and others on this thread,

Thanks for your input and experiences on b2b room moves, when the time comes I will certainly try and liaise with each cabin attendant to try and make the change as smooth as possible, lets hope I do not have to waste too much time waiting in line for the necessary clearance by the authorities and Celebrity procedures for issuing new cruise cards.

It is great to hear everyones differing experiences on this and other matters, thats what Cruise Critic is all about sharing information.

Hope you had a good time ! We had a blast!

Did you by change share a taxi with anyone to OSJ?
