Wifi on Century ship

I am crusing on the century ship next month.

Does the cruise ship offer wifi? I am in graduate school, so I will need to bring my laptop to do some schoolwork during the week.

Yes, for a fee there is wi-fi on the ship. The ship's computer tech's station (behind the Martini Bar) will be a good place for you to go upon boarding. They offer package deals sometimes on the first day of the cruise.

Century has WiFi available in your stateroom... at a price of course starting at 65 cents per minute depending on which plan you purchase... and it is slow!!

Warning: Service is very slow. Sometimes it is barely acceptable and sometimes it makes you long for the speed of the dial up modems that were more common 10 to 15 years ago.

 

Also the service is dependent on the ship's satellite signal and on some cruises we've found it wasn't unusual to find the service down completely and on other cruises the bandwidth was limited so not everyone who wanted to could get online at the same time. Since the bandwidth is shared you'll find that in most cases service will be faster at off hours when other guests are less likely to be using the system.

I found it quite interesting that even though we were on the same ship, the connection while we were in the Mediterranean was actually faster than when we were in the Caribbean. It certainly appears to be related to how strong the signals are in each country....the downside...you never know what that will be.
