Just a quick question. Haven't been on Celebrity for awhile. Can someone tell me what happened to the Galaxy. Was the first cruise we took and went on it 3 times in a row. We loved that ship. Just notice its not under Celebrity anymore. Looking forward to hearing what happened to it. Thank you

Believe Galaxy was sold to another cruise line.

 

We sailed Galaxy from Galveston TX for 10 days (partial Panama Canal) and we also liked

Galaxy very much.

The Mercury will join her later this year. They were great ships and have an avid following.:(

Galaxy is now Mein Schiff - sold to TUI Cruises, a German company. They made some modifications but she's still very recognizable. We were docked next to her in Antigua last year. We had a Royal Suite on Galaxy in Feb. 2002, courtesy of an upgrade - many wonderful memories of that cruise!

Here is a picture of her in Antigua last March. You can't make it out in the photo but I saw they had hammocks on the balconies - now that sounds like a nice touch.

Galaxy is now Mein Schiff - sold to TUI Cruises, a German company. They made some modifications but she's still very recognizable. We were docked next to her in Antigua last year. We had a Royal Suite on Galaxy in Feb. 2002, courtesy of an upgrade - many wonderful memories of that cruise!

TUI is actually part of Royal Caribbean as is Celebrity so its still in the same company..

She went to Pullantur, a Spanish cruise line which is a wholey owned subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., who also got Royal Caribbeans Sovereign of the Seas (now SOVEREIGN), Nordic Empress (now EMPRESS) and the old Celebrity Cruises Horizon (sailing under same name), as well as the old Tropicale from Carnival Cruise Lines (now sailing as OCEAN DREAM).

Actually, Blue de France is being chartered to Saga from CDF Croisières de France.

 

CDF is a French cruise line started by RCCL. Horizon will be transferred to CDF to replace Bleu in 2012
