Blackjack Tournaments on Carnival

Just curious. What do suggest to invest in the first hand? Put the entire $1,000 and go for it or play it safe and do about $300 a round until the very end (Assuming you last that long). I have seen it played both ways with mixed results.

It was exactly the same last month on the Liberty.

The last time I played everyone played the first round. The people with the top scores played in the final round. I don’t think there were more that 30 people who entered.

The top three received a t-shirt. The winner received $500 in chips and a ship on a stick. I don’t remember if second received anything extra.

It was fun for $25.

What I found (and what was already mentioned here) on our Freedom cruise earlier this month added even a little MORE salt in the "wound" for Platinum/Diamond perks.

Yes, it used to be a free entry...

Then it changed to BOGO...

Now, with the re-buy that people can get for $15 it devalues the "free" one that is obtained via the BOGO!

I wonder what "improvements" to the perks they'll dream up next... Something like BUY ONE, GET ONE FOR HALF PRICE??

As of last week on the Freedom Buy in was $25, you can now rebuy for $15. You play 7 hands and start with $2000. Top 7 scores on the board at the end of about 3 hours make the final table. Final table gets a tshirt. Play in the final is the same except for alternating bets. Usually you need at least $6000 to make the final table. Winner gets $500, a ship on a stick, and an entry into the $100,000 tournament on the Breeze in November. You still have to pay for the room at a reduced rate.

I finished in second on my recent cruise and won a spot in the Grand Final tournament on the Breeze in November. Of course have to buy a spot on the cruise first but they do give you a discount code. Debating if I should go or try to sell my spot as I can transfer it one time.

I also won second place in the BJ tournament on my past Paradise cruise and was given a voucher for the finals on the Breeze. When I called to make reservations the code given kept coming up invalid. The women I talked with spoke to a manager and came back with a flat rate of $299.00 + tax for and inside cabin and $399.00 + tax for an outside. I was not given a choice of cabin and had to accept the one offered. I accepted the outside.

I have no idea what to expect at the finals but it sure would be nice to at least win enough to cover the cost of the cruise.:)

I've received a couple entries into the "Grand" finals... decided to just recycle the paper. That's the best use for it -- as far as I'm concerned. Now, if you would like to sail that week to begin with, that's another matter!

Hey Tom , I started buying the BOGO and taking the free one to my next cruise. Just off the Legend for a B2B2B2B and never qualified at all. Last one was a casino cruise and the amounts were really high. Dennis

Call me a BJ purist - but I don't care for any of the side bets (AKA "Sucker Bets") - thus when they added that option on the tournament table I just keep my mouth shut... and hope someone at the table (finals) doesn't throw a Hail Mary which hits the mark!

Dont care for the odds.

Putting down 20 bucks to win 500 when say 50 people have put down their money puts the odds way into the houses favor.

Hello

I'm selling my ticket that I won back in May on the Pride. It is for a Nov which is when I'm getting married on another cruise so sadly I can not go. If anyone is interested in the ticket send me a PM with fair price. Also keep in mind it expires in October.

I have not seen the PM feature activated (function) here on CC ... ever ...

It may be fun but odds wise it's a HUGE ripoff !

Watched Carnival push their blackjack tournament . Since you can enter multiple times (for an additional $20)

there were many many entrants all looking for a seat in the finals.

There were 3 separate qualifying periods.

Honestly with free entrance for platinum cruisers, I wouldn't be suprised if there were well over 250 entrants.

Again could be fun but a horrible bet !:(

So is the BINGO.. they rake in so much from those "tournaments"
