2011 TA Coupon Book: *NO* BOGO Coffee Card Coupon

My nephews each received the new 2011 travel agent coupon book on our recent Sapphire cruise and it does NOT include the "buy one, get one free" coupon. This does not affect the purchase or use of a coffee card, just the BOGO coupon. Here's what the booklet includes:

-- 15% off one bottle of Opus One wine (which is $150/bottle)

-- $5 off seminar fee for the Maitre d'/Sommelier Wine Club

-- 10% off fine jewelry or gifts from the boutiques onboard (not combinable with Elite benefit or any other coupon)

-- $10 off a single purchase of $100 or more in the boutiques onboard (not combinable with Elite benefit or any other coupon)

-- $40 off Exotic Lime & Ginger Salt Glow with Massage in the Lotus Spa; port days only.

-- $50 off Aroma Stone Therapy in Lotus Spa; port days only

-- $35 off OxyDermy Facial in Lotus Spa, port days only

-- FREE metabolism test, $35 value, in the Lotus Spa (good only when you book a personal training session)

-- 50% off "Scenic Photo Album Package" in the Photo Gallery

-- 50% off Digital Print Services in the Photo Gallery

-- Buy one, get one free, Princess Collectors Edition DVDs in the Photo Gallery

-- Buy one, get one free tournament entry in the Casino (Slot or Blackjack tournament)

-- 15 minutes free in the Internet Cafe with the purchase of any Internet package, one-time purchase only and not combinable with any other offer (which I assume means it's not for Platinum/Elite/full Suite passengers)

-- $10 on any frame purchase in the Art Auctions (may be applied toward purchase of framing for any unframed artwork either purchased or won at an art auction.)

And that's it. A whole lotta nothing. I'm guessing that the BOGO coupon from last year's booklet will not be honored, but I don't know for sure.

The BOGO coupon from last year's book said it expired on Dec 31, 2010 so I don't think they will accept it if you try to use it. You're right, not much to use in that book at all.

On one of the sea days, they should offer origami classes using the pages of the 2 useless coupon books. They are now nothing much more than a condensed version of all the paper advertisements we get while onboard.

It is a real disappointment that the BOGO coupon will no longer be available, and I think it's a mistake. It generated a lot of good will that we actually thought we were getting a really good deal. Doing away with it can't save them that much money.

Surprisingly, we had very few paper ads delivered during our Sapphire cruise. Nothing like the barrage we've received before. Perhaps one every two or three days.

The coupon to purchase a coffee card expired but not any unused coffee cards. It should be interesting to see how long they'll continue to give out unlimited brewed coffee using the old cards.

The last cruise we did I had two coffee cards left with holes unpunched, but since we got the coupon in the book I thought maybe I should buy a new card just in case. So glad I did. Now I hope they will keep accepting the coffee cards we do have on all our cruises.

I just got off the Sapphire Princess and did try to see if they would let me use the coupon that expired Dec. 31, 2010. This was only after looking at the Passport to Value coupon book that was left in our cabin for our use during the cruise -- it also expired Dec. 31, 2010. Unfortunately, the BOGO coupon was not accepted -- I figured if the other coupons were still being used perhaps they would take this one, but no. -- so I have taken it home with me -- a lesson to be learned -- use it or lose it. :)

I also had a coffee card left over from our Panama Canal cruise on the Coral -- it was a substitute card the Coral had printed up because they ran out of the usual playing card design. I still had several punches left -- however they would not accept it on the Sapphire -- thay wasn't fair in my opinion. They looked at it and even though it said Princess coffee card, they turned it down.

I was hoping that the new coupon booklet would have the BOGO card -- how disappointing -- now the coupon booklet has no value at all. :p

I happened to find a booklet near the photo area, just laying on a table so I picked it up & it was a 2010 version. We used the coffee coupon without a hitch!

We have sailed P three time, bought the cards, I dont believe I saved them because I didnt realize you could use them again. This cruise March 2011 we have three that drinks brewed coffee only, no specialities, can we get three brewed coffees each a.m. with one card? Or else buy two or three cards. Is the coffee served in the DR brewed coffee? Thanks

You will usually need a card for each to get brewed coffee at the coffee bar or IC. Sometimes they will allow you two, but I doubt you can get three with one coffee card, especially over and over again throughout the days you are onboard. It is actually supposed to be one per card presented.

The coffee in the dining room is made from syrup, just like the rest of the complimentary coffee onboard. Sorry!

And its not as if the furniture in the cabin requires coasters either! Just more paper to deal with.....

It's also good for steadying the little table that always wobbles! Maybe Princess purchases the tables that way so we have a use for some of their useless paper. :p:p:p

Shogun, I have never gotten a coupon book either. Guess my TA is not in the upper echelon of Princess TA's. I have never even seen one.

I don't think the coupon books have anything to do with where you live, it all has to do with the TA you book with. ;)

Why don't they just use the money for printing all these things and give us discounts/lower prices :)
Some people do use the coupons. :) And, your TA is already giving you a discount/lower price, or if they aren't, they should be. The coupon book is available only from TAs.

No way should you have let them get away with it. It was a perfectly legal coffee card issued on another ship and should have been good on any ship. We used ours (the Coral one) on the Sapphire for nine weeks. A visit to the Captain Circle rep, the purser's desk or a supervisor would have solved the probem.
