2011 TA Coupon Book: *NO* BOGO Coffee Card Coupon

Lynda, Well, at least we now know we don't have to bring along coasters, we will have plenty with both worthless coupon books. :)

 

I agree. I really wish that they contained just one thing that was a gift without having to buy something to get 10% off etc.

 

I had much rather have a coupon for two free drinks, one meal at a specialty restaurant, or something similar.

 

If you are going to give me something please don't tie it to a purchase, just make it a gift however small.

Posted on Princess' Facebook page "Lot of talk on Cruise Critic about the 2011 Coupon Book. No BOGO Coffee card. Seems a lot of us agree - that was the only thing worthwhile in the whole book!" Let's see if they reply???:(

Okay, this is off subject but I couldn't pass it up. I considered having my grandkids call me "Nonno" but since they'd learn to say "no, no" soon enough, I went with "Papa". :p

I know my TA sometimes gives out the books (I just missed out when I booked, took too long to decide) but it sounds like I got the better deal because I still got the 25$ OBC... which is more useful to me than that coupon book (though I might have used the casino/slot tournament one)

Interestingly, my nephews got the coupon book but my sister, daughter and I got a $25 OBC plus a coupon for a bottle of wine. My daughter doesn't drink and was able to trade that in for 10 cans of soda instead.

It seems like if you have the coffee CARD there is no problem but if you have a copy that was given when the cards ran out is an issue....

As OP's have said I to will be interested to see how long these cards are good for. I still have 15 months until my next cruise....

Interestingly, my nephews got the coupon book but my sister, daughter and I got a $25 OBC plus a coupon for a bottle of wine. My daughter doesn't drink and was able to trade that in for 10 cans of soda instead.

 

The $25 OBC and bottle of wine is usually a group perk while the coupon book is usually given when booked during a certain time period when the agent is running a $100 deposit special for the week.

 

Maybe your nephew booked a category that your agent didn't have group space for or maybe group space was gone when he booked. He probably booked a different week then you and your sister, daughter and you booked as you would have received the coupon book also.

I just got off the Sapphire Princess and did try to see if they would let me use the coupon that expired Dec. 31, 2010. This was only after looking at the Passport to Value coupon book that was left in our cabin for our use during the cruise -- it also expired Dec. 31, 2010. Unfortunately, the BOGO coupon was not accepted -- I figured if the other coupons were still being used perhaps they would take this one, but no. -- so I have taken it home with me -- a lesson to be learned -- use it or lose it. :)

 

I also had a coffee card left over from our Panama Canal cruise on the Coral -- it was a substitute card the Coral had printed up because they ran out of the usual playing card design. I still had several punches left -- however they would not accept it on the Sapphire -- thay wasn't fair in my opinion. They looked at it and even though it said Princess coffee card, they turned it down. :confused:

 

I was hoping that the new coupon booklet would have the BOGO card -- how disappointing -- now the coupon booklet has no value at all. :p

 

I would call Princess and complain about them not accepting the substitute card. They should send you a new one to make up for this as the cards are supposed to be accepted on future cruises. It's not your fault the Coral ran out of cards.

OP started this thread as "informational". But it soon degenerated into complaints. After reading so many petty complaints on this forum about a cruise, I think "their" fun on a cruise is looking for and finding something wrong. Enjoy.

 

2 pages of fuss over a twenty something dollar coupon?

 

Be grateful that princess offers a coffee card.

We just got off the ruby yes you are correct about the bogo but in the passport to saving coupon book there is a coupon that if you buy a coffee card at the international cafe they will give you a beautiful stainless steel princess travel mug but no matter what they say in horizon court you must buy it at the Ic

Sounds as though the new 2011 coupon book is worth about as much as the Passport to Savings. Now we will have two worthless pieces of junk to either toss or use as coasters!

I feel like you, when I got involved in these boards someone commented to me that I was naive if I thought that many of these threads wouldn't turn into complaints & negative judgements of others opinions. Unfortunately too often they are correct & wish they'd be more informational & not so much about what they hate about their cruise. I understand being disappointed about some aspect of a cruise & a desire to improve some area of their experience. Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion & I'm all for constructive criticism but not some of the hatred about cruising.

 

Too often someone new to cruising reads these boards & are ready to avoid cruising with so many harsh opinions about them which would be a shame. :rolleyes:

Nonno is Italian for Grandfather. I called my Grandfather Nonno as do my Grandchildren call me. We were in a crowded room for a family get together a few weeks ago with a lot of Gramps and Grampy's but when I heard Nonno from 2 rooms away I knew I was being called!

 

Sorry, we got Coupon Book and $135 OBC.

I don't know why we didn't call our Italian grandpa "nonno" & I didn't learn about the term until we had grandchildren. So far "papa" has worked okay but not as distinctive as an Italian "nonno". :)

How about Tutu? That's Hawaiian for grandmother and what two of my grandkids call their other grandma.

Just got off the Golden (Jan 5th-19). The coupon book we received in our stateroom was the one with "expires Dec 31" coupons. Went to the Purser and asked-Coupons good for this cruise. Bought two-Got four coffee cards.

 

Wish I had done as well in the Casino;)

That's funny, "Tutu" was another one my wife considered since we're part-time Hawaiian residents but she went with "Oma". It would have been "mo bettah" to be a "Tutu" than a "No-No". :D

 

I could have been a "Tutukane" but it could have confused our "haole" grandkids even though they love to go there with us. :)

Thanks for posting this Pam.

 

While these are coupons - intending to be a discount for services - I feel that what's left is a mostly expensive or over-priced services. Getting a 15% discount on $100+ worth of product or service isn't a fabulous deal.

 

Like many others, the coffee card was the only one we really used.

Maybe if the Princess executives hear about this thread being discussed they 'might' reinstate the BOGO coffee card. It sounds like it was a real winner with the passengers. With the economy the way it is, you would think the cruise lines would be bending over backwards to please their customers. JMO

That's what you hear, but Princess goes full. Have you ever noticed how little advertising you see by a Princess product?

Princess has always targeted their advertising money to the travel agents verses for example Carnival who advertises more to the consumer direct. They do this as the vast majority of people who book cruises do this through their travel agent. The concept goes back to before the online companies became popular but the concept that people are making a large investment in their vacation such as a cruise, that they will hire a professional (TA) to help them. If they could win over the TA with their marketing, they will get the clients. This is probably why one reason why Princess usually ranks high amongst Travel Agents.

 

So Princess advertises, we (the consumer) are just not the target of their advertising efforts until we have cruised and then they send out fliers to current customers.

Not to make this coupon book even less appealing, but I want to point out that the Aroma Stone Therapy coupon in actually for $40 off, not $50.

 

We just returned from the Sapphire Princess and were so disappointed to find that the BOGO coffee card had been eliminated. However, as someone else noted, there was a coupon for a free travel mug with purchase in the Passport to Value, so there is a consolation prize!

I've yet to use any of those silly coupons in that book. I have, however,

mailed off the Buy One/Get one free coffee cards to upcoming

cruisers in the past.

 

As far as I'm concerned, my TA can just keep that coupon booklet

for herself for our cruise on the Sapphire next month.:rolleyes:
