Multi family - Insurance for 13 travelers

Family of 13 ranging in age planning a Disney cruise in November 2011. Is it advisable to purchase travel insurance from Disney or on our own through someplace like insuremytrip.com? Is there such a thing as a group policy? What is most important to have as part of policy?:confused: Thanks in advance for whatever feedback you can provide.

I'd get quotes from both places... if the age of the travellers is high, on average, the Disney policy will possibly be cheaper, but the 3rd-party policies are more comprehensive.

 

I would absolutely get a policy with a pre-existing condition waiver if you can. With a group that large, pre-existing conditions are almost inevitable. While the restrictions aren't really too bad especially if nobody has any chronic conditions, they are the most complicated and most argued-about parts of travel insurance claims.

 

Depending on where you will all be travelling from, you may want to make sure there is excellent weather-related delay protection, especially if you won't be travelling to the cruise port a day ahead of time.

 

I don't think there are really "group" policies... each policy is priced individually.

There are group policies available, and most travel insurance brokers would be happy to discuss them with you. As noted above, you would have to compare prices and coverages to find out which is preferable for your group.
