Rare PatriciaF Posted October 27, 2012 #576 Share Posted October 27, 2012 (edited) Are the San Pedrans still here? WE are considering taking Amtrak to Union Stn. L.A. Do you know if there is a city bus that goes to the port? What is the distance? We travel light so luggage is no problem. Would appreciate any details such as schedule, times, prices. thanks in advance. John AMTRAK runs a bus from Union Station to Los Angeles but you need to book your ticket to San Pedro. While it will get you to San Pedro, it won't get you directly to the ship. Sometimes the schedule requires a long layover at Union Station so travellers book a SuperShuttle or PrimeTime transfer. If you look at SuperShuttle, the port and the railroad station are to/from the airport. Keep scrolling down to find the airports with trains and ships, past the ones with airplanes. For public transportation go to the METRO website and use the trip planner: http://www.metro.net/ and, again, it will get you close to the ship, but not directly there. Looking at the Metro schedules you would have to take the Red Line to 7th and Flower and pick up the 450 bus at the stop on Flower right out in front of the coffee shop. The 450 will take you to the Harbor/Beacon Park and Ride where you would get off and walk across the street to the Terminal. Might take a while but it would be cheaper than a cab but if money is not an issue? Take a cab.

Denman Posted November 8, 2012 #580 Share Posted November 8, 2012 Hi! I want to bid on Priceline for a hotel for SP for Fri, Dec. 14th. I know the CP and the Doubletree are the 3.5 star choices, but what is the 3.0 star hotel option going to be there? 3.0 is listed as a bid choice. I'm not sure I want to bid the $100 or so that it would take to win the CP. They rejected the $80 bid for the 3.5 star level as of today. Thanks for your help! robcruz Posted November 10, 2012 #581 Share Posted November 10, 2012 How much is a taxi from Long Beach airport to San Pedro cruise terminal? Are they readily available on a Wednesday at noontime?
Splinter Posted November 11, 2012 #582 Share Posted November 11, 2012 How much is a taxi from Long Beach airport to San Pedro cruise terminal? Are they readily available on a Wednesday at noontime? About $70 one way, depending on traffic. You can take a shuttle service (SuperShuttle, Karmel, Primetime, etc.) for $17/person. Both are readily available at LAX without a reservation. SuperShuttle also runs Execucar, which is a fine private car or van service.

Here is the link to the Ground Transportation page for the Long Beach airport. The taxi fare one way (flat fare for the whole taxi, not per person) is $45. I was trying to provide info on the Long Beach airport, since the previous post was quoting pricing and transportation about LAX. Actually, the TaxiFareFinder says it's $50 from the Long Beach Airport to the Port of Los Angeles, San Pedro, including tip: http://www.taxifarefinder.com/main.php?city=Long-Beach-CA
MandD Posted November 30, 2012 #586 Share Posted November 30, 2012 Wineaux, Thought you might enjoy a :). On our cruise last March on Golden Princess to HI, one morning I sat at a large table in the buffet for a snack. A man sat next to me on my right. We exchanged the usual questions and he informed me he was from San Peedro, or at least he had lived there for the last several years, but was originally from Holland. Then a couple sat on my left and when asked, he repeated that he was from San Peedro. They said, “Where’s that?” He said you were there. They asked, “What state is that in?”
Jimsgirl Posted December 2, 2012 #587 Share Posted December 2, 2012 Please allow time for the journey , although San Pedro is "only 20 miles" from LAX, you must allow for traffic which can be slow, also if you take the shuttle, it wil make quite afew stops on the way. Personally I would take your own private transportation (cab or limo), and allow at least one hour (better still one and half hours) from LAX to ships terminal. DMRick Posted December 13, 2012 #592 Share Posted December 13, 2012 Any updates on where you would suggest some of us meet for a night before the cruise meal? We are at the Doubletree for the first time. Any place nice within walking distance? Thanks.
elcydcruiser Posted December 15, 2012 #593 Share Posted December 15, 2012 You're within walking distance of the 22nd Street Landing. It's mainly fish, but they have pasta's and steak's too. It's a stroll through the marina from the hotel. If the weather holds it quite a nice walk...maybe 15 minutes.
mimicsr Posted December 18, 2012 #594 Share Posted December 18, 2012 We are arriving in San Pedro from a 15-night Panama Canal cruise Monday, 5/6/13 and are being picked up by B-I-L coming from San Diego. We are looking for a restaurant where we can walk with smallish luggage from the cruise port to wait for BIL where it won't be crazy with cruisers arriving & departing. It needs to be open 9 or 10 a.m. on a Monday. Any suggestions?

The walkway is marked with several historical and informative bits about San Pedro and the Port. The Grinder is located at 511 S. Harbor Blvd, San Pedro (cross streets are Harbor Blvd & 5th Street). Luv Cruising Land or Sea Posted December 28, 2012 #598 Share Posted December 28, 2012 Hello We are staying at the Doubltree the night before we sail - would love to find a market/liquor store before we board on Saturday to pick up some Caffiene Free Diet Coke ( not avial on board) and wine. Is there anything close by - we didn't see anything with a quick google search. We will be arriving very late on Friday and then hoping to have the hotel shuttle take us to a store before heading to the pier. Thanks for any info you can share!
