Casino Questions !!

Recommended Posts

I have a few questions about the casino..

1. do you use cash or your "key card"?

2. is it worth it to play the slots?

3. if you are not a serious gambler how much should you set aside for playing?

thanks for your help

Yes, no but I do anyhow, couple hundred should last about an hour:eek:

Slots have some of the worst odds...but they can be entertaining. The lower the denomination, the bigger the "house take" is...

Set aside whatever you want to LOSE, because that is the most common outcome of gambling! If you can't afford to lose it, don't bet it!

or you can get cash at the cage with your sail and sign card.
You don't even have to walk to the cage ........they'll bring it to you at your gaming table!!! VERY helpful of them ...... Haha !! :D :D

I'm sure there are a few out there that would disagree with me, but I consider the casino onboard for some entertainiment only, and expect to pay a few $$ of your choice for that entertainment. They do have penny and nickel slots, so you can spend as little or as much as you want. If you are a table player, consider that smallest bet on the blackjack tables is $6, sometimes they allow a smaller amount.

But that said I won $250 on our last cruise on the slots.:)

We always decide on an amount that we are comfortable losing before we go. Then, if we win, we put the difference aside and keep playing.

My husband won $1500 the first night on our last cruise playing blackjack! I was so mad at him for not coming back to the cabin with me when I was ready to go and then the next morning he showed me the loot and all was forgiven!

My Mom plays there often. Swears that slots are better the first night and next day but then get tight. They want people to win early and play often early. So she claims. Personally I don't think they change the machines like that. In Vegas they would not be allowed to but not sure who regulates ships.

We usually do Roulette more than machines.

I also find I win the first day and it goes down from there. I take $200 per day to play. On the jewel last week I won $800 the 1st night, $300 2nd night and nothing the next 9 days. They really tightened them up. At the end of cruise I had $300 more than I started with so I did ok. CARL

i'm so not a gambler and hate parting with my hard earned money, but i usually decided to set aside $20 to drop in the slots if I get bored. I cannot remember NOT doubling my money. I always walk away before I lost it all again.

My best one was on my first Carnival Glory and my last night walking thru the casino, I put a dollar in to a .25 slot and on my 3rd spin won $260. :D woo hoo.

.....find the casino manager & introduce yourself to them at the beginning of the cruise. Tell them you want to become a member of Club Royale. They will track your play just like a land casino. You put your sea pass card in the machine.

If you qualify you will recieve a letter from Club Royale about a month after you get home. It will have a VERY generous discount off your next cruise. They also send you a member card.

On the Mariner, this last July, all we had to do was show the card to get free drinks in the casino.

I do play a lot but just quarter machines, occassionally clicking the over to 50 cents.

I also hit an $1800. jackpot on the last night of the cruise !

I can't understand anyone playing at the slots. People just look so stupefied and bored sitting there pushing a button..... but I loveeeeee me some Roulette! I try to imagine what number/color/odd-even combination might come up next and bet accordingly (ha!). I feel like I'm "playing" and being entertained, so losses aren't really losses to me. They're just the cost of playing. That said, this past weekend I brought $300 for me and my daughter to gamble with. I lost all mine, and she ended up winning $245 on the last night.

Interesting how *that* works, huh? Little minx! LOL

The casino managers have told me it is based on a point system. They told us 2100 points per cruise or 300 per day. If I didn't play one day, I made up the points the next.We were on 7 day cruises. I assume every cruise follow this.

If I were on a 3 day cruise I would expect I only would need 900 points total. Your 'rebate' would be based accordingly.

Royal Caribbean ALSO gives you points that you can use on the cruise you are on. These are seperate from Club Royale.

I used my onboard points for internet credit & to cover the Johnny Rockets cover charge.
