When should we purchase travel insurance?

My husband and I need to purchase travel insurance for an expensive 12 day cruise in September. Is it better to purchase the insurance early, when initial deposits are made, or close to the time final payments are due? Thanks for any advice!!

For most policies, you must purchase your trip insurance within 15 days of the date you made your initial deposit for the trip, to get coverage for pre-existing conditions, or often, to be able to purchase "cancel for any reason" coverage.

 

You'd have to read the policies that you are interested in for the most accurate information.
