Upgrading cabin on embarkation

Upgrades are possible, IF empty cabins are available on embarkation day. There may be signs posted advising of cabins being available for upgrade; signs will definitely be posted if the ship is full. If in doubt, ask when you check-in. That is the good news. The bad news is that if cabins are available, expect to pay full fare for any upgraded cabin! If you really want an upgrade, I would recommend that you not wait until embarkation day. Ask your TA to check now and even if no cabins are available now, have your TA tell HAL that you would consider an upgrade before embarkation day. Hope this helps!

Bill is correct - especially about the cost - the price will not be discounted much, if any.

Don't count on it - book the category you want and expect it will be what you get.

As others have mentioned, I wouldn't count on it. I can't remember any of our HAL cruises that didn't have a sign at the Purser's saying the cruise was full. I know our upcoming May cruise has been completely booked for several months now. Who knows, you may luck out – Good Luck.
