Seeds in Fort Lauderdale

Hello everyone. On our recent Caribbean cruise, we spent a few days pre-cruise at the Springhill Suites in Fort Lauderdale. My husband found some seeds from trees on the property and brought them home. He would like to know what type of tree/shrub they are from. If anyone has any information, it would be appreciated.

Those look like acorns from some variety of oak tree.
