1sttimecruisergal Posted February 11, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2011 Hello I am wanting to book the 1:00 pm dolphin encounter, but I am afraid that I might miss the ship. The ship is scheduled to leave at 4:00 pm but I am not sure of the time difference. I am leaving from central time zone, if that will help. Please help thank you The show last until 2:00 pm
dabucs Posted February 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2011 Is this booked thru the ship? If so, the ship will not leave without you.
1sttimecruisergal Posted February 11, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted February 11, 2011 No I want to book directly through the vendor
Merion_Mom Posted February 11, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2011 No I want to book directly through the vendor Can't you book an earlier time? That's an expensive excursion, and you wouldn't want to have to cut it short.
crookedhalo Posted February 11, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 11, 2011 Also, where are you considering doing it? I know when DD and I did it in Nassau, it was on another island that you had to take a boat to get to. While the show itself ended on time, you had to wait for the next boatload of guests to arrive before you could leave - that might be a problem for you:(
dixieva Posted February 11, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 11, 2011 We never book excursions on our own in the afternoon. Always in the morning to allow plenty of time to get back to the ship. Remember you're on your on when you book excursions that are not through the ship. I wouldn't take a chance but this is just my opinion.
PattyG12 Posted February 11, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 11, 2011 If we go on our own, it's always right when we dock. Like Dixie said, I would never chance it that close. You have to be back on board 30 minutes before the ship leaves.

Same here....we always book our excursions for mornings.....that's an advantage to booking them early too. I also would not try this....cutting it too close for me. Nebr.cruiser Posted February 11, 2011 #9 Share Posted February 11, 2011 What port is the Dolphin encounter at? How far away is it from the ship? If it's not all that far, you should be fine with an excursion that gets over at 2. If you are an hour or more from the ship, then I wouldn't chance it. Is transportation provided, or do you get their, and back, on your own? We almost always do private excursions, or just go off on our own, but we plan to be back to the ship at least an hour ahead of departure, sometimes more, depending on circumstances. Then, if we want, we may browse the shops for a while--but with the ship in sight. I can't answer our question about the time zone without knowing where the port is, maybe not even then. The ship will tell you if you need to turn your clock forward or back if time zones change, but it can be tricky to figure out if ship time and port time are the same, especially ahead of time. Always go by ship time! Usually, but not always, they adjust it to the time of the port,
uksimonusa Posted February 11, 2011 #10 Share Posted February 11, 2011 If this is Cozumel, then there is a 1 hour time difference. If the excusion is 1.00pm local time, that would be 2.00pm ship time, no way would I do that.
1sttimecruisergal Posted February 14, 2011 Author #11 Share Posted February 14, 2011 Thank you. It is the earliest time available. i think Iwill go ahead and book the excursion through Grand cayman rather than cozumel
