The most shocking thing....??

Just prior to our Miracle cruise 2 years ago I had been reading on cruise critic a thread started by a lady whose daughter had an infection on her big toe. She was asking here if it would be ok for the kid to go in the pool. Now she was not questioning whether or not other people want to see this infected toe swimming around in the pool with them but if it would be harmful to her kid. Of course many people came down on her for wanting to contaminate the water.

So right after muster we were headed for the pool when I was stopped dead in my tracks upon looking down and seeing a young girl with a big fat throbbing infected toe!!!!She was happily getting into the hot tub. I actually even took a photo of the toe intending to post it on the thread when I came back but forgot about it until just now.

Needless to say I did not go into the hot tub or pool the whole trip.

On our first cruise, we were out on deck one evening and saw this EXTREMELY drunk guy with one of the tall white chefs hats on his head, stumbling and rolling all over the place. Since the waters were rolling pretty good that night and had a good breeze up on deck, it made for a quiet funny scene. The winds would pick up and his hat would go flying...and off "Bob" went to get it and place it back on his head. This went on for a good 30 minutes. We all left with our sides hurting from laughing so much!

In the aft section by the adult only pool we heard a group of 4-5 adults laughing hysterically. At first, I ignored it, but the laughing continued. The bar servers were grinning and shaking their heads. I turned around to see what was going on and there stood a man in his 40's, drink in his hand, swimsuit down around his ankles.

I was surprised (o.k. shocked) and made sure DH saw him, too. We concluded that he couldn't be showing off anything too impressive since everyone around him was laughing. :D

But it's okay as long as it was a "dressy" diaper. :D It's like those people who say it's okay to wear a wife-beater to Elegant Night' date=' as long as it's a ""dressy" wife-beater. :)[/quote']

*LOL* or their flip flops are Ok to wear on formal night because they are "Bejeweled" *LOL*

Speaking of red speedos.... one year when we were in Key West' date=' we were walking along the beach and there was an old guy, very obviously a drunk, in front of us in a red speedo and he kept bending over to pick up stuff. We were trying to hurry and get past him and not have to keep seeing him bend over in front of us with his red-speedo tush up in the air, when he suddenly giggled and turned towards us, holding a piece of mirror he had found. He was preening and announced with a huge smile which was missing at least 50% of his teeth , "Mirrors are just marvelous!!!" It took quite a bit of time at the Hog's Breath Saloon and Sloppy Joe's to recover.[/quote']

It would take a shot for every time he bent over to erase that image! ROFL

I believe it was when we were on the Liberty. We were walking down the long hallway to our room to place our luggage outside our room as it was our last night on the ship. We noticed several large black garbage bags outside one of the cabins. We thought that would be odd for the room steward to leave trash. Well, to our surprise it was their luggage. It had masking tape on the bags with their names, address and phone numbers on them. Hmmmm......i about wet my pants and laughed all the way to my room.

A Redneck if you use garbage bags as luggage:D

humm Past Guest reception on the Elation, a woman in a very short dress was dipped by her dance partner and demonstrated that she didn't waste precious packing space with undies

That is always my final check before going dancing so that doesn't happen. lol

I was waiting for a packed quest game to kick off when a plump woman came in wearing a red fishnet crop top, red leather skirt and acrylic heels. No bra though. Everyone in the room froze.

My husband & I, along with his brother & sister-in-law, were attending a 3-pm Catholic Easter mass onboard NCL Dawn (3/26/10-4/4/10) being held in the Spinnaker Lounge. Just prior to the Priest starting his Gospel, a couple in their mid to late 40's came in and sat in the front row on the right hand side. While the Priest was giving his sermon, she began to cry and kept saying things like, "Oh Dear Lord" and "Why, why, why". Her husband was trying to console her, but she obviously was a bit annoyed with him.

When it came time for communion, the priest gave instructions as to how he would hand out communion and asked that the people sitting on the left & right sides of the lounge stay seated. All of a sudden, this woman stands up, starts to wobble, and falls face first right onto the floor. Her husband jumps up to help and ALL hell broke loose! She began yelling the "F" word many times over and telling him to "Keep your hands off of me". The room went silent. Even the priest didn't know whether or not he should help her, or continue giving out communion. A security code was called and staff members began to appear from everywhere.

At that point, she then began to announce to everyone that her husband had been cheating on her! When and where it happened, we don't know. The priest quickly finished handing out communion and ending the mass and the rest of us were asked to leave the lounge area.

This is one Easter mass I will NEVER forget!

I don't have a funny moment to recall but it's obvious from all these statements that there are ALL KINDS on cruises. Seems like as much as these cruises cost (we're going on a 7 day one), it would sort of narrow down the passengers to those with at least some money and class. However, I do realize they don't always go hand and hand unfortunately.

The trashy people need to have a cruise all for themselves. Just sayin...

Last night of our last cruise saw a gal outside with her luggage and her Carnival Liquor Box. Asked her if she was going to leave it outside. She said "yes, they take it don't they?" I replied that 'yes, SOMEONE will take it.' She wisely took it back into her cabin.

Wonder if she left any clothes for the next morning?

Last year on the Destiny, during the late night comedy show, there was a group of girls, probably early 20s sitting in front of us. The were obviously drunk, but, being that my husband and I, as well as the friends we were traveling with are all upper 20s-early 30s, we didn't mind so much. About 10 minutes into the show, though, they all stood up and started making a scene. The comedian stopped his show, and the Carnival employees came with mops and buckets. Turns out, the girl pee'd in her chair and all over the floor. So gross! The worst part is, she tried to stay for the rest of the show! Thankfully, she was escorted out. We made sure not to sit at that table the rest of the cruise!!!

When we first discovered cruising, I was of the same mindset, somewhat. But through observation, I have come to the conclusion that many people will either save for that "once in a lifetime" vacation, or maybe even get a "loan", and that's where the "mixture" of "class" as you call it comes into play. I would imagine some of this "trash" that you speak of probably has to save up for six, or even thirteen years to go cruising.

But, I have also noted that "money" is not the determining factor in "class" when it comes to the cruising community.

The funniest thing I saw was not on a cruise. In a Mexico resort we met a couple on their honeymoon. The bride was very young and absolutely beautiful. 3 single women in their 40's who happened to be average looking seemed intent on giving the groom attention in front of his young bride. At some point he stopped seeing how lucky he was to marry her and he started flirting back. Apparently later he visited them and was gone too long.

That night my girlfriends and I sat in loungers in the pool area enjoying that no one else was around. Suddenly through the oversized double doors the beautiful, little bride raged and began tossing everything in her path including 2 giant Mexican urns that weighed more than she did. By the time she was done deck chairs and plants floated in the pool and Romeo up on his patio overlooking the pool was sobbing how sorry he was.

I guess you do not mess with a bride no matter how small they may be.

All these stories are great keep them coming. Even though I'm not as "well off" as some people, and have to save up to go on a cruise. i guess someday one of these stories will be about me or one of my "lower class" family members. lol

OK, here's mine:

Last Thanksgiving week, on the Freedom.

One morning we were enjoying a lovely breakfast in the dining room, until a couple at the next table started having a loud, screaming fight over her gambling losses (about $3000 the night before, apparently...). It was so unpleasant, and so loud that our friend asked the waitress to please have the manager ask them to quiet down, or leave. That didn’t happen… The wife started pulling off her jewelry & throwing it at her husband to “pay” for her gambling debts. "I give you THIS! (tosses bracelet at him)" "I give you THIS! (pulls off earrings & throws them at him) "I give you THIS! (whips off a ring & hurls it at him).

Sheesh...

Not to worry, the really comfortable ones are cruising on 50 day or more excursions on the Mediterranean or exotic sites aboard the ship that sells cabins that come with an interior decorator of your choice. You'll fit right in with everyone else. Cruises are reasonable and less than many land vacations, so see, you not only planned and saved, but you saved wisely and you will be the one with the biggest smile, enjoying your cruise more than most. How wonderful is that!

But I will still talk about something you did if you do something funny! :D

hahaha...I went on my first cruise 2 years ago and am going on my 4th in about 3 weeks. I just needed to make a comment on how people can online can call out all the "trashy" people that aren't worthy to share the same ship as their highness. It just makes me laugh.

And believe me...if I do something as stupid as some of these stories, i will be the first one on here telling you just how stupid I was...lol

On our last cruise I went to stand at the rail of our balcony on a sea day.

Now, I am very proud when I see our "Old-Glory" flapping in the breeze. I wasn't pleased to look beside me at the next balcony to see a woman standing there without any clothes. The problem was her entire body was flapping in the breeze!

I guess I'm also one of those that can't shake the disturbing image....

In NOLA woke up in the middle of the night to hear the next door headboard banging on the wall and moaning. She was carrying on a bit. I was thinking come on!! No one is that good!! lol Sorry, men......

On the cruise (Triumph) there were several people on lido deck by the bar real drunk. One guy a little older and overweight dropped his pants and tucked his shirt in his whitey tighty's and was dancing. Out came several phone camera's. lol Then him and his 2 guy friends were humping each other.

One story is years ago on I think The Holiday. They were doing the Limbo and there were 2 "ladies" participating who decided underwear just wasn't their thing and didn't seem to care either. Needless to say my step-father took A lot of pictures of that contest!!

the 2nd is something I did last year in Cost Maya. Me and DH spent the day at an AI resort and let's just say I was feeling no pain whatsoever. We got back to port where they had a pool. I walked into the pool with my drink in hand not realizing or probably just too drunk to notice there was a big drop off step. Well I slipped right under the water but with drink in hand and my floppy hat on. Didn't spill drop or lose hat. Husband said it was hilarious. For the rest of the cruise other passengers would tease me about it. but hey I had a great time

Oh my - hubby and I have been cracking up reading this thread. It certainly takes all kinds to make the world go round.

Shocking thing that we experienced...

...got all ready for elegant night, came out our cabin door and got knocked over by the smell from someone having "dumped" right outside our door. NASTY!!! Ignorant people!
