land lover Posted February 23, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2011 Will or when will RCI add fuel surcharges? Seems this question resurfaces every few weeks.... With many posters not liking the idea of having to pay more for their cruise, many of us have paid the price in the past. Just curious how many RCI cruises you actually had to pay a fuel surcharge on? ...for us, it was 3. L:)ri
eem0924 Posted February 23, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2011 We paid the fuel surcharge back in 2008. Sounds like it won't be too long before we pay another one too!

tnt10 Posted February 23, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 23, 2011 We paid also. It was on a 15 night Azamara cruise, and their additional surcharge was $15.00 pp/day. Ouch! Happy Cruising, TnT

land lover Posted February 23, 2011 Author #13 Share Posted February 23, 2011 I had forgotten that they gave OBC back for those of us that had made final payment. OBC was not an option on our Jan. 2009 Xpedition cruise, we actually got the fuel surcharge refunded twice from our TA and RCI, I brought it to my TA's attention and she told me it was such a hassel to process the paper work just to keep it. nomoreknothead Posted February 23, 2011 #14 Share Posted February 23, 2011 I think it was only two cruises that we paid the supplement in 2008!
Dive Master Posted February 23, 2011 #15 Share Posted February 23, 2011 I REFUSED to pay it for our Grandeur of the Seas cruise in 2008. I REFUSED to sign a new open ended contract with RCCL. My original contract with RCCL clearly stated my pirce would not change UNLESS there was an increase in government fees and taxes. Obviously contracts and promises don't mean much to RCCL. Of course the Florida AG had a little problem with this but the matter was not settled until after my cruise had sailed. I will always remember the attitude of the little smart a-s at the Crown and Anchor Society who told me "Sir, you have no choice but to pay our price increase (fuel surcharge)". I am a dumb country boy who doe's not handle ultimatums very well.I told the C & A rep to take his crown, his anchor, and his fuel surcharge and stick them up his smokestack !!!! I then cancelled our two staterooms and our New England cruise later in the year.Needless to say that was my last booking with Royal Caribbean or Celebrity.
