normalman Posted March 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2011 I'm looking to book a last minute cruise and the Carnival web site talks about a charge of $9 per day per person if oil goes over a $75 (it just broke a $100). Does anyone know if Carnival's done this?
JohninDC Posted March 2, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2011 None of the cruiselines, including Carnival, have done this --- yet. Language is in your cruise contract to protect them if they decide to add the fuel surcharge to existing and fully paid for reservations. I'd prefer to spend the $$ on another DOD (or two :o) per day, but it will not affect my decision to cruise. Good luck! :)
KirkNC Posted March 2, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2011 Your risk is pretty low if it is a last minute cruise. Oil has been over $70 for a year or more and they have not implemented the fuel surcharge. Kirk
golfadj Posted March 2, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 2, 2011 So far it has not happened but could happen depending upon where oil prices go from here.
near the beach Posted March 3, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 3, 2011 I read this morning on the Carnival web site that OBC is used for on board expenses and can’t be used for the fuel surcharge. I was hoping that our OBC would cover the extra fee if it was added. Like everyone else I am hoping the surcharge does not get reinstated.

Go to the Casino, buy chips, charge to SS, cash out, ta-da...cash credit ;)
