Gatwick to Dover train ride

Recommended Posts

We are thinking of taking a train from Gatwick to Dover cruise port with two pieces of luggage.
Has anybody done this and how difficult it was?

There aren't any direct services from Gatwick to Dover, and most listed journeys involve two changes. If your luggage is heavy, this may be particularly inconvenient. But every hour or 90 minutes there's a journey which only involves one change.

Check the following sites for information about times. Look carefully at the journey times because they vary from under 2 hours (even with 2 changes) to over 3 hours.

For this journey, taking a coach is much worse. It seems to be impossible to avoid going by way of central London, which is rather worse by coach than by train.
