International Cell Phones

We have one and will probably bring it just for emergency use. We do not activate the answering device, but can tell if we have missed calls. Anyone have any info/insite, etc?

We took our cell phone with us and knew we would need it for our private flamenco show and in case we needed to reach our tour guides.

I called our cell phone company and they were able to give us a package for $20 which would cover 15 minutes of talking time (not connection) internationally. (We are from Canada so I don't know how this compares to where you are) It worked out a lot cheaper than risking making a call.

I would give your company a call, make sure your phone will compatible in the countries where you may need it and see if they have a package that meets your needs. We were glad we had ours :):)

hope this helps a bit :D

The ships are roaming cell towers, so most cellular companies just bill you the normal international roaming rates. if you visit your cell providers website it will list out the roaming rates, but of course call them to make sure.

if you cell phone is just "on" and you do not make any calls, and someone calls you and the phone rings but you dont answer it, you will be charged. the phone is actually connected through the roaming tower and there is some data being exchanged. Tmobile told me I would be billed the first minute of the call for any unanswered calls which in my case was $5.
