euro cruiser Posted March 22, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2011 I can't speak to the others, but the port in Bari is right on the edge of the centro storico. You could easily fill a day touring the historic and religious sites there (this link is all in Italian, but you can get a sense of how much there is to see in a small area: http://www.comune.bari.it/portal/page/portal/bari/temiBari/CulturaeTurismo/turismoABari/bariVecchia), or you could day trip to see the sassi in Matera (http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/670) or the truli in Alberobello (http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/787). dln929 Posted March 22, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 22, 2011 We are going on the Adriatic cruise that visits all those ports so I've been doing some research. If you go to http://www.royalcaribbean.com and look under "plan your cruise" on the top left of the home page, it will bring you to "ports of departure" and "ports of call." You will find all the cities listed there and a wealth of information to get you started. Also, if you look at the rolls calls for the Voyager you'll see several going on the Adriatic Sea cruise. Take a look at the threads and you can find out what private tours everyone is going on. Also you might want to google each city's port authority to find out distance and transportation. hong the arsenal fan Posted March 25, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 25, 2011 I'm not sure about the other ports, but port of Bari is just by the city. I don't recommend touring Bari though, as it is just a typical Industrial Italian city. I took an excursion to the nearby town of Madera to see cave dwellings of locals 50 years ago. Great historical heritage site there! I strongly encourage the excursion of Sassi de Madera. Pretty sure the historical sites at Bari are present in most Italian cities.
