US Government Shutdown

I am hoping that maybe one of the CC News Editors will see this, but does anyone know what the impact to ports would be if the proposed gov't shutdown goes through? Would there not be any departure from US ports for that day?

From all I have read this would not be an issue.

 

The biggest issue that I have read about that affects travelers is that they will either not be processing new passport and renewals or they will take much longer to process. The same goes for those from other countries needing a USA visa.

It seems that the major issue for travelers will be obtaining passports and also the national parks will be closed.

That's why the government may shut down, no more extensions. Not the first time and won't be the last, either.

the shut down is supposed to occur tonight at midnight:mad: I am one of those people awaiting a passport. I sure hope they settle this budget quickly

There will be very little effected at the ports. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is deemed essential. They will not be sent home on furlough.

Alaska will have quite a bit affected with the closing of all national park areas. I hope it all gets resolved before we get their in 43 days.

 

And I know quite a few people still waiting for their passports.
