Future Cruise Certificate Question

I've searched and was unable to find the answer; can you apply a future cruise certificate to a deposited booking?

The terms on the back of them specifically say you cant, and some were rejected a couple of months back, and then Carnival started accepting them. So, the official answer is no, but people are sending them in and getting them credited.

My PVP says you can. He says the cruise is in the future from when you bought it. I have, like firefly heard of some being accepted and some being rejected so it must just depend on who processes it.

We just got back on Sunday. The back of it says you can use it for your deposit, but it may not cover the entire depoit.

We dropped it off with our TA, so we wouldn't loose it. She told us the same thing.
