slm517 Posted April 22, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2011 What is the most obc you've had for one sailing? The most I've ever had for prior cruises is $150. But for my Oasis sailing in January we are on track to have well over $600 (a combination from TA, onboard booking, and accumalated RCI Visa points). What's the most any of you guys have had for one sailing? And is the unused obc still refunded to you at the end?
retiredonthesea Posted April 22, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2011 $1000.00 It was one sailing, but we bk'd 3 cabins, 1 suite and two minisuites on NCL. NCL gave us a good chunk as we had big price drops and than we did two bkings while onboard. No unused obc here!!
cruzincurt Posted April 22, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2011 $600 and during the week I drew out most of it at the casino even with the 3% fee to be sure it ended up in my pocket.
phoenix1181 Posted April 22, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2011 $900 on a 13 day TA & we still had a sizeable balance on our SeaPass at the end of the cruise.................

If you draw it out can you also then cash it out at the casino?

They refunded it back to your credit card if you don't use it all, so why pay that 3% fee?
Rare silentbob007 Posted April 22, 2011 #8 Share Posted April 22, 2011 They only refund certain types of credit and sometimes they are confused about which type ... hence some pay the 3% for cash now. :)

PCWalton1 Posted April 22, 2011 #10 Share Posted April 22, 2011 $850, and we still had a bill at the end of our 7 day cruise for about $350. I hate those pictures on the ship. :(
DonnaK Posted April 22, 2011 #11 Share Posted April 22, 2011 On Princess, we had $7800 OBC for three cabins. We had originally booked a cruise on Caribbean Princess for July 2009, but 4 days before the sailing, Princess called us because they were oversold. They wanted our three balcony cabins, and they offered us three minisuites cabins plus a refund of our cruise fare if we agreed to take the same cruise one year later. (The day before that cruise, we were called again...they wanted two of our minisuite cabins in exchange for one full suite, plus another $1000 OBC...we turned down that offer because we didn't want to combine the people from two cabins into one, and we wanted all our cabins to be next to each other.) We spent less than $1000, so the rest was refunded to us in CASH before we were allowed to leave the ship (we were told that they'd either send us a check in the mail after the sailing, or issue a credit to our CC, however they insisted on zeroing out the account with a cash refund in the end.) So, we essentially cruised last year for free, and are using the refunded money to pay for our upcoming cruise on Allure.

Maybe, maybe not, might depend where the OBC came from. I'll take the cash in hand. Charges in the casino go against your shipboard account, just as do other purchases. The OBC is a credit to your account.
cruisin4kicks Posted April 22, 2011 #13 Share Posted April 22, 2011 Ah, the good old days when you could combine OBC. Below is $1,040 worth of OBC we got on our Serenade cruise thru the Panama Canal in April of 2008. Plus, the only cruise we have ever been on where the upgrade fairy visited us (while checking in) and sent us to a JS from a D2 balcony. And, we spent all that plus some. OBC 300.00 - TA OBC 250.00 - RCI Stockholder OBC 200.00 - RCI Gift Certificates 150.00 - BOA OBC (RCI credit card) 140.00 - Fuel Surcharge Refund Total OBC 1,040.00 Tim

We still had about $500 on our Sea Pass account at the end of the cruise. I laugh every time I read that on these boards myself :p BTW, I will have $675 on my Sept cruise ... I am adding up all the ways I want to spend it in my mind (specialty restaurants, massage, excursions ...) LOL! That $675 is LONG GONE :D

jamesr3939 Posted April 23, 2011 #16 Share Posted April 23, 2011 $900 on Crown Odessy many years ago when Royal Cruise Lines still sailed, ah the good old days. We had ten of us so we got a lowest cabin rebate and AMEX was giving a few $100 PP if you used your AMEX card to pay for the cruise. We bought stuff at the shops our last day that really we didn't even need.
will773 Posted April 25, 2011 #17 Share Posted April 25, 2011 We are on the Allure in June. We have two cabins, each with $342 OBC. Each cabin also has a $125 spa credit.
Happy ks Posted April 25, 2011 #18 Share Posted April 25, 2011 Another line, not RCI we had a total of $650 OBC, $450 from the cruise line because they erroneously re-sold our cabin and $200 from our travel agent. The great part about it was they also upgraded us to a cabin twice the size as our original :) Our first cruise was on Disney when they were in their inaugural season. The ship wasn't finished on time and we were re-booked for 2 months later. They didn't give us OBC but discounted the entire package by 25%, that was the one time we had booked cruise/air package. They also upgraded us to an OV cabin and we had booked the cheapest inside. It was real nice, the total savings was around $875 as I recall. mommabean Posted April 25, 2011 #19 Share Posted April 25, 2011 $560 this month on Carnival - 9 night Mexican Riviera. $460 early saver reductions and $100 shareholders credit. We took most of it out in cash the last night of the cruise. They don't credit it back to the credit card but write a check for what's left if you don't take it in cash. Rare silentbob007 Posted April 25, 2011 #20 Share Posted April 25, 2011 We booked our 17-night Australia/NZ cruise with our last Next Cruise that allowed combinable discounts: NextCruise, stockholder, and TA OBC added up to about $800 which covered our excursions for the entire trip quite nicely.
