Sushi on board good or bad????

Recommended Posts

Im not a sushi expert, but it tastes mighty fine to me. I like it especially when I have late dining. A nice before dinner treat. There is no charge for the sushi, but a nominal charge for the little cup of sake, if you want it. I think it was 1.95 two years ago. :)

Somewhere in between...lets call it decent. If you are a seasoned Sushi eater, you know what I mean. It's not $20 a roll stuff, more like $4 a roll stuff. Decent Sushi you'd find at a nice sushi place in the mall. Cali, spicey tuna, shrimp nigiri, stuff like that. It's decent, and free. I eat it almost every afternoon, for what that's worth.:)

that the sushi they serve on the ships is cooked fish and not raw because of the health risk with eating raw fish/seafood. I didn't try it on our last cruise. Do they charge for it and if so what is the price?

Mike

I think it's more a price issue for the fish rather than any health risk, as I have eaten Tuna tar tar, sushi tuna, and sashimi and other raw fish in other parts of the ship (mainly the Steakhouse and MDR).

My wife and I always go for the sushi. We usually get late night dinning, and the sushi typically opens about 5-ish.. so we'll go have sushi and a drink before dinner.

It's not the best sushi we've ever had, but it is far from the worst. I'd give it a C+ or B-.

It's free, and you can get as much as you want. ;)

So no raw salmon? That means I can skip the sushi. I assume it's equivalent to sushi at Asian buffets based on the comments here.

Exactly like Asian buffet or basic supermarket sushi. Though lately it has been getting better at Vons.

We like the pickled carrots and cucumbers. Sometimes they forget to marinate the veggies.:(

On our last Spirit cruise I remember being served eel (or was it mackerel?).

The sushi on the ships is pretty good. I've been to some land sushi places where it was actually worse than what you get on the ship. There is no extra cost but is only available for a couple hours each night.

Definitely a good time to try it if you have never had sushi before.
