holdon216 Posted April 22, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2011 Love sushi and have had it on a few of the other ships. It is just OK.
hlb76 Posted April 22, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2011 Seeing I only really get to eat it when cruising I give it a thumbs up. I'm sure it's not great if I have something to compare it too. But for my tastes it's edidble..
soulsistah007 Posted April 22, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2011 It's certainly nothing to die for but it's okay.
cruisin1982 Posted April 22, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2011 that the sushi they serve on the ships is cooked fish and not raw because of the health risk with eating raw fish/seafood. I didn't try it on our last cruise. Do they charge for it and if so what is the price? Mike
holdon216 Posted April 22, 2011 #6 Share Posted April 22, 2011 No extra charge. But it is only open at certain times.
SMSACE6 Posted April 22, 2011 #7 Share Posted April 22, 2011 Im not a sushi expert, but it tastes mighty fine to me. I like it especially when I have late dining. A nice before dinner treat. There is no charge for the sushi, but a nominal charge for the little cup of sake, if you want it. I think it was 1.95 two years ago. :)
elcuchio24 Posted April 22, 2011 #8 Share Posted April 22, 2011 Somewhere in between...lets call it decent. If you are a seasoned Sushi eater, you know what I mean. It's not $20 a roll stuff, more like $4 a roll stuff. Decent Sushi you'd find at a nice sushi place in the mall. Cali, spicey tuna, shrimp nigiri, stuff like that. It's decent, and free. I eat it almost every afternoon, for what that's worth.:)
Steamboatin Posted April 22, 2011 #9 Share Posted April 22, 2011 If sushi is your best choice of food on any cruise line you are in big trouble.:D
geaux_aces Posted April 22, 2011 #10 Share Posted April 22, 2011 It's not high dollar stuff but still pretty good. You get 3 pieces on a plate, you really don't get to pick. The menu can change throughout the week. Some is cooked and some is raw, just like at a regular sushi bar.
AWCHIEF Posted April 22, 2011 #11 Share Posted April 22, 2011 The only reason that I eat it is because it is free. Seriously if I had to pay I would not. It is eatable (barely) but very substandard.
hankandteri Posted April 22, 2011 #12 Share Posted April 22, 2011 Good, not great.

Mike I think it's more a price issue for the fish rather than any health risk, as I have eaten Tuna tar tar, sushi tuna, and sashimi and other raw fish in other parts of the ship (mainly the Steakhouse and MDR). Barsnikel Posted April 22, 2011 #16 Share Posted April 22, 2011 My wife and I always go for the sushi. We usually get late night dinning, and the sushi typically opens about 5-ish.. so we'll go have sushi and a drink before dinner. It's not the best sushi we've ever had, but it is far from the worst. I'd give it a C+ or B-. It's free, and you can get as much as you want. ;)
StarCruz Posted April 22, 2011 #17 Share Posted April 22, 2011 So no raw salmon? That means I can skip the sushi. I assume it's equivalent to sushi at Asian buffets based on the comments here.
SadieN Posted April 23, 2011 #18 Share Posted April 23, 2011 So no raw salmon? That means I can skip the sushi. I assume it's equivalent to sushi at Asian buffets based on the comments here. Exactly like Asian buffet or basic supermarket sushi. Though lately it has been getting better at Vons. We like the pickled carrots and cucumbers. Sometimes they forget to marinate the veggies.:( On our last Spirit cruise I remember being served eel (or was it mackerel?).
JP4GA Posted April 23, 2011 #19 Share Posted April 23, 2011 On the Elation a few weeks ago they had smoked salmon it was great, but they only had it one day. The rest of the time the sushi was good but not great.
SuthunCruiser Posted April 23, 2011 #20 Share Posted April 23, 2011 Onboard sushi is what it is - better than most, worse than some. The sushi chef was skilled when I tried it. Very tasty!
Joaljoe Posted April 23, 2011 #21 Share Posted April 23, 2011 I agree with everyone else, just decent! But, it's sushi and it doesn't taste bad so I enjoy it! :)
jobell Posted April 23, 2011 #22 Share Posted April 23, 2011 The sushi on the ships is pretty good. I've been to some land sushi places where it was actually worse than what you get on the ship. There is no extra cost but is only available for a couple hours each night. Definitely a good time to try it if you have never had sushi before. joshchristine100700 Posted April 23, 2011 #23 Share Posted April 23, 2011 The sushi on the triumph was not good IMO but I'm a sushi snob from Vancouver originally lol I'd put it just below grocery store sushi.
adamthepianoman Posted April 23, 2011 #24 Share Posted April 23, 2011 I used to work in a sushi bar...so I know my sushi... I have never cared too much for it, yet have tried it on every single cruise...as always I tried it again on the Carnival Pride 2 months ago and it was AWESOME!!!
