Beach in Toulon

Larger ships are now docking at the western end of the bay, at La Seyne...if so, a 12 Euro taxi ride gets you to fine beaches, restaurants, et cetera, at Les Sablettes. The local Tourist info people will be at the dock, and are very nice, and helpful.

Enjoy your beach day!

Does any one know if there is a good beach in/near Toulon and how do we get to it as we would like to have a day on beach if possible in South France

I have to agree with both suggestions made above.

Last year, we passed by Mourillon (while on the Le Petit Train de Toulon - Circuit 1 Mourillon) and heard several cruisers that they enjoyed the beach day there (can take a cab or local bus to this beach; the bus ticket was only 1.40€/pax and you can pay the bus driver directly).

In the 1970s the city of Toulon built a series of sheltered sandy beaches in Mourillon, which today are very popular with the Toulonais and with naval families:

Thanks for suggestions, we are on Independence of the Seas in July, not sure where docking but if not in Toulon but on other side, are there lots of taxis or buses to get to the beach and back and how far is it.:)

As many large ships dock now in La Seyne-sur-Mer (and not Toulon, Provence as typically indicated on the itinerary), last year I thought appropriate to post some photos of the area and some ideas on how to get out to Toulon via local bus:

Due to the traffic, the bus ride takes about 45 min. to Toulon; you pay the driver directly (bus ticket costs about 1.40 €/pax). Check the schedule for local bus # 8 from La Seyne to Toulon at:

You may also find useful this document from Voyager of the Seas (offering some options of "Transportation from Toulon" - actually to Toulon from Seyne-sur-Mer):

Note that RCI offered last summer a shuttle transfer to Toulon at about 12.00 USD/pax.

The other option is the local boat that crossed over to Toulon (and back at 2.00€ /pax). Check the schedule for local boat # 8M from/to La Seyne to/from Toulon at:

Enjoy your cruise !
