Rare welshfamily Posted April 27, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2011 Hi All, Below is a past post which I have copied from a search of this forum regarding the larger balconies on soltice class ships. Am I right in thinking we have booked a triple sized balcony 6156 and a larger than normal balcony 6158? The price has dropped and my travel agent will upgrade us however I would rather have the extra balcony space. I can not find 6156 on the spreadsheet and wonder if any of you kind people have either stayed in this cabin or if you agree with the orginal poster. Thanks Hi I copied this from another post as i found the information very helpful. personally LOVED my C1 hump cabin #1243 - about triple the size of a standard balcony - it was HUGE!!!!! Literally the largest non-suite balcony on the ship! The balcony was great for hosting cocktail parties - we had 25+ people out there one day! Being on the aft part of the hump there was virtually no wind issue to deal with. We got sun when we wanted it, and shade if desired as well. Due to balcony depth there were no privacy issues related to the angled shape. There are 58 +/- cabins with the same size balcony we had - they are: Resort Deck: 2105, 2109, 2106, 2110 Penthouse Deck: 1547, 1552, 1601, 1605, 1606, 1610 Sky Deck: 1075, 1044, 1231, 1243, 1247, 1108, 1120, 1124 Panorama Deck: 9155, 9192, 9209, 9215, 9237, 9241, 9266, 9270, 9292, 9296 Vista Deck: 8199, 8162, 8255, 8259, 8281, 8285, 8228, 8232, 8254, 8258 Sunrise Deck: 7159, 7206, 7215, 7219, 7241, 7245, 7260, 7264, 7286, 7290 Continental Deck: 6155, 6156, 6209, 6215, 6237, 6241, 6210, 6214, 6236, 6240 Most of these are on the hump, but some are forward where the ship starts to indent. The rooms run the range from Category 2C, 1A, C1, or AQ (with the exception of 6209/6210 which are categorized as 07 Obstucted Balcony - great balcony at a small price!). There are also many cabins adjacent to the ones I listed that also have oversized balconies that are about double the size of normal ones, but I would go for the triple sized ones first

Valley Girl of VA Posted April 27, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 27, 2011 I believe that the cabin listings that WelshFamily copied from another post was actually corrected in that same thread. Case in point, 8162 is listed as one of the largest but it actually is 8160 which is on the slant of the hump. Double check these cabins before you book off these cabin numbers. Wine-O Posted April 27, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 27, 2011 That was an OLD/ERRONEOUS version of a copy/paste. Deck 8 was wrong. Here is the corrected version. Bruin Steve Posted April 27, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 27, 2011 I booked #6209 for our July 2012 Iceland/Norwegian Fjord cruise...It was sort of hard to pass up the way oversized balcony at the low 2D price... The "obstruction" is the end of the lifeboat/tender which is to one side of the balcony...and can be seen over... I found this photo somewhere (click on thumbnail below) of #6210 which is the identical cabin on the other side of the ship...

Billiam Posted April 27, 2011 #7 Share Posted April 27, 2011 Steve, Your photo helped me decide to book 8257 on next May's Silhouette sailing we recently booked. It does look like a great balcony. Hi Mike, We am on the May 18 cruise with you and in the past few days released cabin #9237 which supposedly has a triple size balcony. I upgraded to the cabin directly above, 1243. (See comment about 1243 above) Maybe when we're on board we can see who has the biggest balcony. Looking forward to seeing all and look for future comment on our roll call, you're certainly welcome to have an adult beverage on our balcony---------- Bill

I have been known to enjoy and adult beverage, especially on balconies. :D I do think our balconies will be the same, since we are the in the same position on the opposite side of the hump. But we can certainly compare to see who's balcony is bigger.
FunCruiser56 Posted April 27, 2011 #9 Share Posted April 27, 2011 Thanks to the info I found on these boards we booked 8257 on the Solstice for our Hawaii cruise, with 5 sea days we will spend alot of time on this super balcony! Wish they would put a lounge chair on the bigger ones, sure looks like it would fit easily. Bev
Snorkel Dawg Posted April 27, 2011 #10 Share Posted April 27, 2011 Just off Eclipse & the last two cabins have double the narmal size balconies. We were in #6303 on Continental deck. The very last cabin on port side before the rear Sunset Veranda Cabins. Very nice balcony & very quiet cabin. Had a very minor obstruction, the top blue trim of the area around the specialty restaurants but only prevented us from looking directly down. Well worth the the EXTRA large balcony! Cabin 6303 e by snokeldawgs, on Flickr This photo doesn't really show how large the balcony really is, but it does show the "minor" obstruction

I have been looking for one for some time. WE are in 6303 on the Equinox in 10 days. I am curious. Did the glass panel on the right side of the picture open to the next cabin? We also have 6301 (the other cabin in question) and want to connect the balconies.

We have 8257 booked for an April 2013 Caribbbean cruise on Eclipse...picked it because of the info on these boards. Can't wait to have the bigger balcony, just wish I could find a picture of it. Is there room for a lounge chair on the balcony, and is it really 3X regular size? Thanks so much!

ariawoman Posted May 30, 2011 #20 Share Posted May 30, 2011 (edited) When you reference these larger verandahs, are they only bigger depth wise? Or is it also in length. I'm interested moreso for the larger verandahs for categories 1A through 2D on equinox which is a solstice class ship. Thanks!
