Sunny AZ Girl Posted April 30, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2011 I had to have emergency surgery twice last week and although I am told by my MD that I will be ok to travel in two weeks I am making some adjustments to our plans to be a bit more realistic for my recovery period. DH's one big request in this whole trip was to be able to do Pearl Harbor - the Arizona, the Missouri and the Bowfin Submarine. I can walk ok, but I am sure I will tire easier than before and climbing ladder type stairs will not be an option for me. From what I can tell the Arizona should be no problem but am a bit more concerned about the other attractions - especially the submarine. DH would skip them if I feel he needs to, but I would prefer to find a nice, cool place where I can sit and enjoy the views, possible browse some shops or museum wit frequent rests while he goes where he wants to go. Having never been there I cannot visualize the layout. Any suggestions?
JuneauWhatIMean Posted May 1, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2011 Hi Ginny- I can't answer your question about the other attractions but I can tell you that the Pearl Harbor Museum and USS Arizona are in a very beautiful and tranquil area. There are plenty of shaded areas to sit and rest or reflect and people watch and there is a great museum and gift shop. You might consider just staying here while hubby goes and sees the other sights. Alison
Sunny AZ Girl Posted May 1, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted May 1, 2011 Thank you. I may do just that, depending on how I feel. It is nice to know that there is a good place to sit and relax while he explores if I am not yet up to par.
