cruisincarly Posted March 15, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 15, 2005 Has anyone ever biked in Denali? My husband & I bike a good amount, day trips up to 40 miles, but not in terrain like you'd find in Alaska. Just wondering if anyone's ever done it, how the park road is for bikers, etc.

Yukon Posted March 17, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2005 In the dozens of trips I've made along the park road I've never seen a bike. The heavy bus traffic and resulting dust would make it a nasty trip. The park regs that say you have to stop when being approached by a bus would mean that you could probably walk faster. GlacierLady Posted March 17, 2005 #5 Share Posted March 17, 2005 If you make it to Seward,we have bike rentals and a very nice day ride would be out to Exit Glacier.About 14 miles 1 way from Seward. You'll have to walk to the glacier itself once your in the park but the road to it has a nice paved shoulder and it ends at the park entrance so traffic is limited. When I 1st moved here there was a couple with 2 small kids in tow that rode their bikes all the way from Fairbanks and was going to ride them back home too. That's 500 miles up and down just going 1 way!All I could say was WOW!
