any info on ships or ferries in caribbean?

Anybody know if there are any ships or ferries that transport or allow passengers to Island Hop between caribbean islands? Dh and I thought about taking a trip and visiting two diff places, but multi flights with major airlines are so expensive!! We would like to go by sea if possible, or a small charter plane. :)

If you fly to St. Thomas...there is a ferry that goes to different island there..to about 4 or 5 islands.
