Megalon Posted March 4, 2012 #1151 Share Posted March 4, 2012 Anyone know which bars, lounges, clubs allow smoking - or don't if that is an easier way to approach it. Thanks. Thanks again. I believe smoking is only allowed in the Chamber. Upstairs near the bar, not downstairs. Otherwise, starboard side of deck 4, 11 & 12 and in the Casino except on formal nights. Oriole Posted March 4, 2012 #1155 Share Posted March 4, 2012 I've been in an owner's suite on Explorer in 12/10 and in 12/11. I've been contacted by the concierge ( Francis then Carlos)both times, about 7-10 days before sailing. They each also responded to my emails about cabanas. Does anyone know who will be replacing Carlos? Janet

bren61 Posted March 6, 2012 #1164 Share Posted March 6, 2012 How many evenings do they have the ice shows on an 11 night cruise? Are they all the same show? How long do they last? We've enjoyed the entertainment in the theaters on the Jewel and Enchantment, how is it on the Explorer? This is the first we have done MTD, do we have to call for reservations each day or can we just show up and be seated at our convenience?
snowgreg Posted March 6, 2012 #1165 Share Posted March 6, 2012 How many evenings do they have the ice shows on an 11 night cruise? Are they all the same show? How long do they last? On a 12-night they had two different ice shows (Blades had 2 showings on Day 3 and 2 showing on Day 5, Spirits Of The Seasons had 2 showings on Day 7 and 1 showing on Day 10). Both were good and lasted about 45 miniutes each if I recall correctly. This is the first we have done MTD, do we have to call for reservations each day or can we just show up and be seated at our convenience? I believe you setup the reservation time each day for the next evening. Greg

We booked our times online before the cruise (to coordinate with our port times). You can call the MDR during the day to book a reservation or make one on your way out the evening before. I would caution against just showing up w/o a res. if you want to eat between 6-6:45pm or at the beginning late seating.

This is the first we have done MTD, do we have to call for reservations each day or can we just show up and be seated at our convenience? you can pre book my time dining prior to your cruise via the website, i have done this, you can specify a different time each night in advance if you no what your plans will be. I have booked the same time every evening but have got the flexibility to change this once we are onboard if my plans change. if you have same time every night you are likely to be sat with the same guests each night as you would be in the main dining room. Hope this helps
mayfieldlodge Posted March 6, 2012 #1169 Share Posted March 6, 2012 Has anyone stayed in any of the cabins on deck 2 forward. I noticed that the Chambers is above this area. Wondering about noise etc. I have stayed in an ocean view cabin forward on deck 2 and experienced no noise at all, very quiet on that deck and a great view from window. djkk Posted March 6, 2012 #1170 Share Posted March 6, 2012 Thanks for the coke rewards link, however, just so everyone is aware, the rules state the OBC is for 6 nights and up. Do you think they are sticklers about the number of nights? Thanks.

bren61 Posted March 6, 2012 #1173 Share Posted March 6, 2012 Thanks for the answers for the my time dining, I have a few more though. If we set up a 7pm time slot, will we have enough time to eat and still get a decent enough seat for the 9pm shows in the theater? I can't remember how long it took us to eat in the MDR when we cruised before, I am trying to figure out a schedule for the ice shows, theater, and eating times. To get a decent seat for the ice show, when do they start lining up?
mets550 Posted March 6, 2012 #1174 Share Posted March 6, 2012 Thanks for the answers for the my time dining, I have a few more though. I can't remember how long it took us to eat in the MDR when we cruised before, I am trying to figure out a schedule for the ice shows, theater, and eating times. To get a decent seat for the ice show, when do they start lining up? Two hours should be enough time. We have had cruises where we sat at an eight-person table and were never out in less than two hours but when we sit just the two of us it often lasts no longer than ninety minutes. If you want to get out in time, you will have no problem and will not feel rushed. In fact, the late seating show is usually at 10:45 (2:15 after first seating begins, so not much of a difference). Seating in the theater is seldom a problem. If you get there five minutes before the show starts you will have great seat selection. The ice shows usually take place earlier in the day--usually late afternoon. I believe they start letting people in about thirty minutes before the show starts. If you want front-row seats, you probably have to get there at least 20 minutes in advance, but you can usually show up 10 minutes before and get otherwise decent seats. djkk Posted March 7, 2012 #1175 Share Posted March 7, 2012 Hi. Is 1388 too small for four adults (DH,Myself,DD-24,and DS-22)? Other option is two promenades. Couldn't believe the cabin was available. Oh, it's for a five-nighter.Thanks for any insights.
