CarolnLarry Posted June 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2011 We will be doing our own transfer from the Airport in San Francisco to the Cruise Ship Pier. What is the best way to do it? We planned to take a taxi but heard they have a Super Shuttle that goes to the pier. Any suggestions would be appreciated.:)

Any suggestions would be appreciated.:) It's around $40 - $50 and about 1/2 hour - depending on traffic and time of day. Check out this web site: http://www.worldtaximeter.com/san-francisco and put in your route and time of day. Super shuttle, OTOH, is $17 each ($34 for 2) and you will probably have to wait for others to join you and share the ride and drop off. Check Super shuttle on their web site. orchestrapal Posted June 8, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 8, 2011 Be prepared for a very long taxi line. SF has a shortage of taxis and they don't hang out at the cruise pier. We used a limo service from the pier to our hotel and days later to the airport. Sam at Pacific Heights Limo.http://www.phllimo.com. Sam is delightful, prompt and gives you great service.:)
wripro Posted June 9, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2011 I recently took a taxi from our hotel to the pier. It was cheap and fast with no problem at all.
Rare LHT28 Posted June 9, 2011 #5 Share Posted June 9, 2011 Be prepared for a very long taxi line. SF has a shortage of taxis and they don't hang out at the cruise pier. What about at the airport? We took a shuttle service to our hotel from SFO then just walked to the cruise port the next day

Lymebdr Posted June 9, 2011 #7 Share Posted June 9, 2011 Really depends on your patience and baggage - if you have roll-ons you can take BART to the city and then a short taxi ride. Super shuttle will work - you may have a bit of ride-around on the way, just luck! Taxi is about $50 - $60 you can get lucky and not have any delay at all, or you can wait on a busy day. You can check out the line before you decide to take the shuttle or BART Lymebdr
digby Posted June 9, 2011 #8 Share Posted June 9, 2011 There are lots of cabs available at SFO.
Oceans&Rivers Posted June 10, 2011 #9 Share Posted June 10, 2011 Be prepared for a very long taxi line. SF has a shortage of taxis and they don't hang out at the cruise pier. Actually that has improved recently. There is an extra lane now for pick ups at Pier 35. The taxis line up at Pier 33 (one pier south of 35) and move up in turn to Pier 35, so that it is not the zoo that it used to be when passengers disembark at Pier 35. WaterView2 Posted June 11, 2011 #10 Share Posted June 11, 2011 Another option, which we used, is a private sedan service. They have a maximum charge of $65 from SFO to anywhere in San Francisco. Uber is a dispatching agent for licensed limo companies. http://www.uber.com

The two times we came into Pier 35 this spring the taxi lines were very long and there were very few taxis pulling in..

It was very economical and on time. Not your stretch limo but comfortable. I am sure that they go both ways.
