fieldagent Posted July 1, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 1, 2011 Has anyone done Kayaking in Haines? I have seen posts about Ketchikan. My wife and I do not want 2 person Kayaks. We are used to sit on Kayaks in FL. We are planing to do a walking tour in Ketchikan.

Budget Queen Posted July 3, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 3, 2011 If you are docked in Haines, the Chilkook Lake Kayaking is ok, in my opinion, great if you don't want to consider anything else. But I wouldn't consider it from Skagway cruiseship docking.
Suzanne123 Posted July 4, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 4, 2011 We did the Chilkoot Lake Kayaking excursion last year when the salmon were jumping all over the place, and I would grade it a B. They are two person kayaks, and you spend at least half the time on the trip walking though the woods. It's also a long (although scenic) catamaran and bus ride to the lake. I think it's a nice day trip, but the ocean kayaking in Ketchikan would be more exciting.
