negc Posted February 14, 2014 #1876 Share Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) We brought Brilliance of the Seas over to the US (Boston)last September with Captain Stig and six weeks later, sailed with him on the repositioning to Tampa. Now, if I am interpreting your list correctly, it looks like we will be sailing with him again as he brings the ship back to Harwich. Hope he doesn't get tired of seeing us. ;) He is among our favorite RCI captains. Edited February 14, 2014 by negc

Ocean Boy Posted February 16, 2014 #1878 Share Posted February 16, 2014 We brought Brilliance of the Seas over to the US (Boston)last September with Captain Stig and six weeks later, sailed with him on the repositioning to Tampa. Now, if I am interpreting your list correctly, it looks like we will be sailing with him again as he brings the ship back to Harwich. Hope he doesn't get tired of seeing us. ;) He is among our favorite RCI captains. He is ours also. When we sailed Serenade out of San Juan, on the last sea day sailing back to San Juan from Barbados he provided a great narrative of each island as we sailed by. And when we got to Montserrat he stopped the ship and gave us all a very good look at the distruction that the volcano did to the town. Also, when we sailed out of St. Lucia he brought us to the Pitons and the ship sat between them for about a half hour giving us an amazing sunset view as we sat there. He is one of the very few captains that had such a direct impact on our cruise experience. And even though that cruise was some years ago now I have never forgotten the experience. negc Posted February 16, 2014 #1880 Share Posted February 16, 2014 No Sir William, Stig will leave the BR April 7 in TPA and will not be back until June 21 in CPH Thanks for that info. I had hoped that he would stay onboard to use Brilliance as his way of getting back home. We will be disappointed. We have never sailed with Captain Manolis but I am sure we will find him to be a fine and personable Ship's Master. I am hoping that many of the staff whom we sailed with for so many days last year will be onboard (to ease our sorrow over the absence of Captain Stig:))

Clarea Posted February 16, 2014 #1883 Share Posted February 16, 2014 Off topic - is there a similar list of pool bands? Where can I find such a list? I've never seen a list of pool bands. However, you can request the entertainment lineup of an upcoming cruise by sending an email to web_reservations@rccl.com. mommabean Posted February 16, 2014 #1887 Share Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) Hi Gina, I will try that. They'll tell you the Caribbean bands too? Yes, I've had them tell me that along with who is playing in the Schooner Bar and the centrum musicians. Sometimes all I want to know is who the headliners are and they give me too much information including the Caribbean band. If they don't offer it, just ask. rubrrick Posted February 18, 2014 #1891 Share Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) Looks like a blue nose ceremony and yes, Stig Nilsen loves them. You are correct, and I'm the only passenger in this picture. I would post the picture of Stig pouring ice water down my back, but there are other passengers in the picture, and although the picture is halarious, I don't want to offend anyone. The items on the table are frozen bottles of Linie Aquvit. I keep a bottle in my freezer, as I have come to love the Norwegian liquor, but only use it for medicinal purposes, or to celebrate some special occasion, like introducing it to a guest that we had for dinner Saturday night!:D Rick edited to say that this was an official company photograph, that was signed by all of the officers in the photo, as a momento to me. That is why you see autographs. This was the infamous Jewel crossing where we wiped out our mast coming into the Faroe Islands.......2012. negc Posted February 18, 2014 #1893 Share Posted February 18, 2014 Bill, you mean this Captain Stig? Rick Yes, Rick. He's the one This year at the end of the ceremony, on the Brilliance TA to Boston, the crew dumped the bucket of ice water over his head and he took it very well. I joked with him that he enjoys the ceremony much too much and he agreed. The line of passengers waiting to participate in the Blue Nose ceremony stretched the length of the pool deck and into the Solarium. Love the picture and see a number of familiar faces from the Jewel. Sau hi to your lovely wife from Rita and me.

Rare TPKeller Posted February 18, 2014 #1895 Share Posted February 18, 2014 Curiosity killed the cat, and all that... Just because something is known does not necessarily mean it is good to share. Anyone who pays even a tiny bit of attention to this thread will surely see that there are a handful of folks who have managed to gain access to, and the trust of people in the industry who are in a position to share information that helps Wolfcathorse keep all of us updated on the Captains' schedules. This benefits the community, and I appreciate having such convenient access to this information. If trust is betrayed, most importantly, friendships are lost, and as a side consequence, that information becomes much harder to get, and hurts us all in the long run. I trust the people who have built those relationships to make the proper call. Pressure from the gallery to do otherwise helps no one.
