Voyager - Venice boarding time?

Cruise Docs say 2 pm, anyone tried to board earler? Also, Vaporettis are very crowded today and I don't think we will be able to take luggage on tomorrow around noon - will be way too crowded. Has anyone taken water taxi from hotel (ours is near San Stae) to P. Roma and how much is it? I know it is expensive to airport but hoping will be reasonable to P. Roma.

Thanks... need to know by tomorrow!!!!

Both cruises out of Venice we were at the port by 11am and onboard by 11.45am. The first time we used vaporetti to transfer from hotel to P. Roma but it was early October and not too busy The second time we left our luggage in the left luggage office in P.Roma and took only overnight bags to the hotel, so we were able to walk back to P.Roma the day of boarding

thanks very much. that is helpful... right now our hotel has 2 other couples in same situation so we may get a water taxi for all six of us and share the cost... If that falls through we will take vaporetti about 10 am and hope for best. Venice seems to be a late sleeping town, and vaporettis really get crowded in the afternoon..

Hi, we boarded the ship at around 1:00 p.m. simple due to the fact that we spent the morning exploring Venice.

We took a private water taxi from St. Marks to the port for 95 Euros. It was pricey, but turned out to be well worth it. Love the trip up the Grand Canal by private water taxi, really great way to see the Grand Canal.

Also, in Koper, there is a booth right outside the ship that sells the same excursions the ship offers for about half the price. We used them and had great luck.

In Ravenna, you will need to use the shuttle service or a taxi to get into town. The town itself was a bit dissappointing, but we went to Florence by rental car and had a great time.

In Bari, we used a free shuttle service that was offered instead of paying for the ship transfer services. Right outside the port there were a number of services offering tours of the area much cheaper than the ship. Bari is an easy walking port and the old town is really neat.

Croatia is the best port (besides Venice). Take the shuttle to the old town and have a great time, we walked the wall for about 10 Euro's a person. It was alot of fun.

Have a great trip, Voyager was in great shape and the food and service were awesome.

Get the water taxi to take you to the port.

Piazzale Roma is crowded and hot and the People Mover is inadequate to cope with large numbers of people with luggage. In addition, you will still be a long walk away from the luggage check-in when you get off it.

Hi,

I was just wondering if you had the names/details of the booth or tour company in Koper and Bari that were selling the tours?

We were on Voyager on 30th July and were one of the first to board. They did not open the check-in desks until just before 11.00 a.m. and the security scanners opened at the same time.

We were on board by 11.15 a.m.

We stayed at the Casa Sant'Andrea which is literally at the Piazzale Roma No 52 vaporetto stop and just a 5 minute walk from the port entrance - literally underneath the People Mover.

We booked a private tour in Koper - with an English speaking guide and he took us to places that the ship did not offer. Please email me for details. The ships shuttles were very expensive for a family of four and in most ports a taxi was cheaper.

Ravenna is a good 15 minute taxi ride from the port stop - probably the most uninteresting stop on the itinerary in my opinion.

Have a great cruise.
