Oceania's Free Shuttles List

I"ve been to Bergen and Boston within the past 8 or 9 months and as others said there is no shuttle necessary in Bergen if I remember right. 

 

In Boston there was a shuttle that took you to the Fanueil Hall area. Looks like a great itinerary.

Just looked at my notes from 2016 for Boston.  Things may have changed, but in fall 2016 there was shuttle service that went to a surface road near Clinton and Atlantic, close to Quincy Market, which is close to Fanueil Hall.  Service was once every 30 minutes; first shuttle was a half hour after our scheduled arrival time and last was a half hour before our On Board time.  There were other ships in Boston that day and many different buses, each going to a particular ship.  My notes say, "Walk to Fanueil Hall was about 2 minutes at most but need to know where to go."  All I remember is that there was a park and a large street around there. With a little bit of bumbling around, I found both the market and the Hall.  I also remember when I came back I just missed a shuttle bus marked for Oceania, so I ordered an Uber back to the Black Falcon cruise pier (don't remember cost, just that it wasn't too bad.)

We are scheduled to dock in Greencastle for Londonderry (Ireland).

There was a post on this forum from a couple of years ago, but it isn't in the compiled list,  that there was a shuttle.

On the port website, Greencastle is listed as a tender port 20 miles from the city center.

Realize there are few port calls here, but does anyone who might have done the circumnavigation of Ireland last year have any info?

Thank you!  This is a great idea for a thread, very helpful.  We haven't sailed on Oceania yet, but would like to try it out.  I noticed that the website and brochures mention the "free shuttles into town" but I'm pleased to find more detailed information here.

Just back from Rio to Buenos Aires cruise on Sirena. There is a tram at the cruise terminal in Rio free if 65 .Buzios tender Port no shuttle needed.Neither was one needed in Ihla grande, Parati or Porto Belo.

Port Stanley, Falkland Islands - the tender dock is at the foot of one of the streets in the small downtown, no shuttle necessary.  There is a paid shuttle option in Port Stanley to go to the nearby (10 minute ish??) bluffside walk with plenty of penguins to watch, no reservation necessary.  This info from when we were there (4 or 5 yrs ago).  Sorry we didn't get off at Puerto Chacabuco, and we missed Punta Del Este for weather.

We were in Punta Del Este, but I'm afraid I don't remember if there was a shuttle there or not.  However, it's not a huge place, so perhaps you don't even need any kind of transportation.  I do remember walking to the place on the beach where the big "hand" come up out of the sand, but that's about all I remember!

Thanks  'roothy123'.  It looks to be about a mile from where I'm guessing the tender puts in to the 'hand in the sand'.  Since it looks like the tender pier must be out near the tip of that peninsula any place else would be quite a walk.

There was no shuttle in Punta Del Este when we were there, and to be honest, if there was one, not sure where it would take you anyway?  It's more of a walk-about resort town.

 

Yes, it is a bit of a walk (but not hard) from the tender to the beach with the hand sculpture.  The thing I remember most from this port are the big seals that were laying underneath the boardwalk!  🙂

I probably had a basic map and idea of what I wanted to see, but it was a while ago and I don't remember.  I don't even remember tendering, if that's what we did.  I was on Regatta or Insignia.

We were on the Nautica ..Capetown to Singapore  this past Jan/Feb.  Below are the shuttles that our cruise had (I kept my copies of Currents daily newsletter.

 

Capetown......no shuttle....people either walked or took cabs. We were docked at E berth, Cruise Liner Terminal, Duncan Road

 

East London, South Africa....shuttle from pier to the Hemingsway Mall

 

Durban, South Africa....shuttle from pier to the Ushaka Marine World

 

Port Elizabeth,  South Africa....shuttle from pier to the Boardwalk

 

Richards Bay...from pier to Boardwalk Mall. 

 

Dar es Salaam....shuttle from pier to Hotel  Hyatt Regency in City Center.   Extremely long walk from ship to exit gate.  There are several gates. We were at one and out guide wad at another. Very busy working port

Nosy be, Madagascar...this is a tender port  shuttle from pier to Town Center Market

I just realized that most of the places on our most recent cruise are not on this list, so here goes (all Mar/Apr 2019 on Marina).  Some of these may so obviously *not* need shuttles that they aren't on the current list.

 

Lima - shuttle to Marriott at Larcomar (Miraflores neighborhood)

 

Salaverry Peru - shuttle to Trujillo (near the main historic square-several miles away); separate shuttle to port gate only.  Tour operators gather at bus drop off in Trujillo to pitch you on excursions (private excursions more easily picked up at the port)

 

Manta Ecuador - shuttle to main square (nearby, longish but do-able walk if you wished); same shuttle would drop you at port gate if requested

 

Esmeraldas Ecuador - shuttle to nearby Playa de las Palmas (recently upgraded waterfront walk, market area, etc) - not sure if the shuttle sometimes goes further, we were there Friday of election weekend and were warned traffic would be awful. Also, we docked although our itinerary said we would tender.

 

Puerto Limon, Costa Rica - no shuttle, excursion offerings by the local taxi cooperative right on the pier, as well as some shops in the terminal; you could walk into town on your own if you wished

 

Santo Tomas, Guatemala - no shuttle, excursion offerings by local operatives with desks in the terminal (which also had shops); you could walk into town on your own if you wished

 

Roatan - Oceania docks in Coxen Hole, no shuttle, extensive cruise port shops, restaurants and tour operators

 

Harvest Caye, Belize - the ferry to the mainland was *not* operating for independent travelers the day we were there.

 

Miami - our cruise was here for the day (*not* as an embarkation/debarkation day), there was a shuttle to Bayside Marketplace

 

New York (Manhattan cruise terminal) - no shuttle

• The ship is docked a long walk from the main thoroughfare
• Taxis and or public transportation are not easily accessible from the port. .
• The port is industrial and not pedestrian-friendly.
• The decision on whether free buses will be offered will be based on the port used and will be made closer to or during the sailing
