Oceania Shuttles List

==================================================================Write Review

Does Oceania Cruises provide free shuttle service? Free shuttle buses are offered when:

  • The ship is docked a long walk from the main thoroughfare
  • Taxis and or public transportation are not easily accessible from the port. .
  • The port is industrial and not pedestrian-friendly.

Is there a shuttle between Santiago (city or airport) and the San Antonio port?

Easy answer.  NO  Believe you can buy a transfer but, no free shuttle.  It is about 50 miles. And, will be expensive if possible.

Is there a shuttle for Taormina?

Not when we went last November on Oceania We were on an excursion so the tour took us up to Taormina.  Apparently from the port there is a public bus that goes up to Taormina; a crew member was telling this to another cruise passenger.  If you can find less expensive means to get up to Taormina, definitely do that - the town is compact and easy to tour on your own.  A definite must see.

Does anyone have info about a shuttle in Wellington, New Zealand?  I gather the port is industrial and requires a shuttle, but I'm unsure exactly where the shuttle might go. Anyone know or should I try contacting the port?

Also, I'd love to find out if there are shuttles in Napier (if needed) and Tauranga, both in New Zealand.  As for Dunedin, someone reported a shuttle, but Regatta and other cruise ships dock in Port Chalmers, which is not exactly Dunedin.  Therefore, I'm wondering if the shuttle goes from the port (berth) to Port Chalmers (likely, I would guess) or the city of Dunedin.  Does anyone know?

As for Taormina, it has been a while since I've been there, so I could be totally wrong about this.  However, I believe that where cruise ships dock is not actually Taormina, and depending on the location, could be a little far from where you need to be to catch a bus. With that said, however, when we were in that area, we DID take public transportation (bus? train? I forget) to Taormina, and then a bus up to the little town higher up.  At that time, we docked at Giardini/Naxos.  (There might be more info in the Ports of Call section of Cruise Critic.)

We did New Zealand w/ Viking so I cannot speak regarding Oceania shuttles.  That said, you will not need a shuttle for Tauranga, the berth is right by Mount Maunganui - absolutely a stunning port - sailing in is spectacular.  You will need a shuttle for Wellington.  Napier we had a shuttle but you could walk from the port to the main Art Deco area.  And yes, cruise ships dock in Port Chalmers which is almost 5 miles to Dunedin.

Thank you for this information.

re Venice

free shuttle to town.

can anybody tell me what this means.  We have been to Venice several times usually on an over night stay. With Celebrity we paid for a boat transfer to St Marks square and used the monorail/people carrier to the water buses the second day. With Azamara we were docked close enough to walk into St Marks square. On our third visit we took a ships excursion. Getting on to the water buses was relatively easy from the terminal however get back on one to the terminal was incredibly difficult due to the crowds of passengers.

Actually there is NO shuttle for Venice to San Marco.  We went last Nov on Riviera.  There is a shuttle that runs within the port terminal.

We bought tickets to ride on Alilaguna which is located right by the main pier building at the dock.  It’s a more direct route to get back & forth from San Marco than the vaporettos.

Hi Roothy, the shuttle in Wellington will drop you in town.  So you can then walk to visit the cable car and the Botantic Gardens at the top of the cable car.

Napier will be a tender port, and then the town is not too far.  Napier is a lovely Art Deco town, so on a nice day it’s a pleasant visit.

Tauranga you will dock.  There is a small shopping area where the ship docks it’s Mt Mangarui (not sure of spelling).  But this port is where there is a few tours to spots like Rotorua and Hobbiton.  This past Xmas we took a tour to Hobbiton and had a great day.

Dunedin, Port Chalmers is the stop for all cruise ships.  So dependant in what tour you choose, eg Train to the Gorge, the train will be waiting at the Port.  But if you choose to DIY them a shuttle will drop you in Dunedin, City Square.

let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Thank you.  Just wanted to add to possibly lessen any confusion in the future: Napier is not always a tender port.  We're scheduled to dock, but there is another ship there that day which anchors/tenders.  Either way, everyone will get to explore Napier!

Does anyone know if Oceania runs a shuttle between Gdynia and Gdansk?

When we were there 4 or 5 years ago there was a shuttle from the ship to the center of Gdynia.  In Gdynia there were taxis lined up, but I don't know how much they charged to go to Gdansk, which isn't horribly far but not right around the corner either.  In Gdynia you could exchange money, do a little bit of exploring/shopping, or go to the small train station.  We exchanged a small amount of money so we could use public transportation.  Poland was not on euro then (& may still not be).  Exchange was fast and easy, and we didn't even need a passport for our small transaction.  Then we walked about 5 minutes to the train station and took an old but fun shortish train ride to the Gdansk train station.  From there we took a tram to get within a block or two of Gdank's beautiful old town/river area.  I walked around, took another tram to a lighthouse, and came back to Gydnia. It was a little complicated, but oh so much fun!

But the basic answer to your question is no, there was no shuttle to Gdansk. An excursion might be best.

We visited Cagliari, Sardinia (Italy) in January 2019 on another cruise line.  This is a restricted port so there was a mandatory shuttle from the port to a parking area not far outside the port. It was only a five minute ride at most, and was offered starting quite early and just after the ship was docked and cleared. The area is pictured in the link below.  It faces one of the main roads of Cagliari (Via Roma).  Depending upon where you want to go and what you want to see, your walk would likely be 5 (buses, car rental, a little shopping, ferry) to 20 minutes (fortress) from that point.  I assume if you arrange a private excursion, the driver would pick you up where the shuttle drops you.  https://pbase.com/roothy123/image/168751148

Thank you, this is exactly the info I was looking for.  We booked a Tours By Locals excursion on the strength of your advice. Much appreciated!
