We were just in San Sebastian de la Gomera.....shuttle not needed. It's a 5 minute walk go the town. The CURRENTS  says taxis are available at the pier....dont remember  seeing any. Pretty little town. Will check my other CURRENTS for other islands. This was the only one we didn't take a private tour.

Doubt it.  We were in the Canaries a little over a year ago and every docking location was walking distance to town.

As per Currents November  2019 .....guests may use the complementary shuttle buses to reach the terminal.....shuttle buses will run continuously with last shuttle returning to ship at 10:30 pm

That is only to the terminal building as you posted.  Assuming I've got my ports correctly the terminal building is less than 1/2 the way to the beginning of the town and only about a 5 minute walk from where we were docked so really no difference from no shuttle to town.

Just back from 2 cruises on Regatta in Australia late December to late August.  Not sure if anyone has reported on these, but this is what we had for our cruises:

Adelaide Aus - tram right at port that goes to center city ticket kiosk; no shuttle

Akaroa, NZ tendered to center of town

Albany, Aus - shuttle to town center

Burnie, Taz, Aus - mandatory shuttle to Maker's Workshop in town; meet guides/taxis there.  Same shuttle goes to shopping area and museum area

Geraldton, Aus - shuttle

Melbourne tram 109 is 5-10 minute walk from port, buy ticket at convenience store next to it, no shuttle

Napier - shuttle to iSITE info center in town on Marine Parade

Perth/Fremantle - don't think was shuttle, but not sure, as we walked to nearby ferry dock.  Train station very close to dock.

Phillip Island Aus-long tender ride in, then shuttle to beach/boardwalk area.  Limited car hire, taxis, etc. day we were there

Picton Aus - shuttle to iSITE tourist info center city takes 5 minutes but can walk easily in 10-15 if follow blue line on sidewalk

Sydney - turnaround day, no shuttle or ferry available at White Bay.  Taxis into town available.

Tauranga/Rotorua NZ- disembarked here (early); not sure if shuttle offered

Wellington NZ - shuttle to several places center city

In general, shuttles ran fairly frequently, leaving soon after we were cleared by the authorities, and the last one was about an hour before the ship's departure time, which was generally a half hour after "back on board" time.

Just an update from my recent experience in South America.

I did not see an Oceania shuttle in Rio.

There was a shuttle in Rio Grande do Sol that took you into town and back.

There was also a shuttle in Buenos Aires that took you to/from the Plaza Hotel.

I know nobody's cruising now, but I'm dreaming of next fall.  Anybody know of shuttle availability in these Greek ports:

Militini (Lesbos), Rhodes, Patmos, Mykonos, Agios Nikolaos (Crete)?

Or these Turkish ports: Istanbul, Kusadasi (for Ephesus), Alanya, Antalya?

Paphos, Cyprus?

I know the Piraeus (for Athens) situation!

Thanks.

No shuttles neede in Rhodes,Patmos or Mykonos as you dock downtown. There was a shuttle in Crete Ephesus is quite a drive from Kusadasi and best done on a ship’s or private tour. In Alanya there are taxis which take you up the hill to the fort The price is per taxi so share. I don’t remember if there was a shuttle in Paphos as we took a tour.

Our cruise in these areas were a few years ago, on an O-class ship, but:

Mitilini - This was a tender port to near the town centre.

Agios Nikolaos - You don't need a shuttle if it docks right near the town centre.

Kusadasi - No shuttle provided.  You are docked pretty much in the town centre, but of course the main historical attractions (i.e., Ephesus) are about a half-hour's drive away.  We booked a private tour for this port.  Hoped to avoid the sales visits (specifically asked not to have these in the request) but ended up going to a leatherware and a carpet shop anyway on the way back - I was irritated but it wasn't so bad.

We’re thinking of venturing on a fall cruise traversing the Mediterranean.  Seems like our covid infection is under control! Hopefully Europe will be open to tourists by then! And vaccinations are widespread! We’re keeping fingers  and toes crossed!!!

Will be taking our first Oceania cruise on Mariner. Any  ideas where ‘O’ may provide shuttle to at:

Zadar

Siracusa

Civitavecchia(close to train station?)

Thank you for suggestions.

There is  a thread at the top of this forum with the shuttles list  but all could change by the time ships are sailing

Mariner is another cruise line 😄

Don't risk a large bet on us being completely open. Some countries have vaccination programmes running into next year. And there's very early signs of a third wave.

Is there a way to search this thread for a specific port?

You could check post  #451 on page 19

I think the original intent was for people to add to the list  as information  became available

but  people were just posting willy nilly  so the LIST  was lost in the  posts

You could go to the top right  click on the SEARCH box  then select this forum

put in what you want to search for  & hit enter

Don't know for sure, but I've read elsewhere (think port's website) that Burnie is one port where you can't walk around. The city or port offers a shuttle to a place called "Maker's Workshop," which is a warehouse with some artists working and/or displaying their creations for sale, and I believe representatives from the tourist bureau.  If you're taking an independent excursion (not a ship's excursion) you meet the rep there.  I believe the port shuttle goes to a couple other places, like Burnie Regional Museum, but you should confirm that by visiting/emailing the port, or a Burnie tourist rep if one comes on board the ship that morning.  The cruise line and the port set the times for the shuttle, so the port couldn't give me specific info for my cruise visit on Regatta in Dec or Jan.

The above info is my understanding of shuttle information; I haven't actually visited Burnie yet!  But hopefully it's a start!

Just wanted to post that what I had read (as above) was correct for our Jan. 2020 visit to Burnie, Tasmania.  The shuttle was useful, and the Maker's Workshop has nice Tazmanian things for sale, plus the shuttle does one drop at a shopping street, plus one drop near a nice water area.  Also, if you go outside to the back of Maker's Workshop, you can see your ship a bit in the distance, and also walk along a boardwalk to see where (at certain times of year) penguins build homes in the grassy area.

Any shuttles in any of the Canary Islands?

In case anyone in the future wants to know about wo ports in the Canary Islands: According to the Oceania Currents paper, in Aug 2014 there was a free shuttle in Arrecife (island of Lanzarote) to "downtown (Calle Juan de Quesada)."  It started 8:30 (half hour after arrival); last one 4:30 for 6p departure.  I don't know how far that was, as we rented a car from right there at the dock. (CI car, great car/experience, great roads, went to Timanfaya National Park - a must do.)   Rented from CI Car in Santa Cruz de la Palma, too, at port - great experience as well.  Didn't keep more than one page from Currents, so don't know if there was a shuttle, just that we docked in Dique del Este.

Not when we went last November on Oceania We were on an excursion so the tour took us up to Taormina.  Apparently from the port there is a public bus that goes up to Taormina; a crew member was telling this to another cruise passenger.  If you can find less expensive means to get up to Taormina, definitely do that - the town is compact and easy to tour on your own.  A definite must see.

I did that, but I can't remember any more than that.  Might want to google. And then when in Taormina, there's a bus up farther, to Castelmola. That was a great place.

We're going on our first Oceania cruise in May/June this year.  Thanks for the list on page 19 and other port comments.  However, I didn't find anything regarding San Sebastian, Spain.  Does anyone know if we need a shuttle to get to town and if Oceania provides one?  TYIA!
