cherylroslyn Posted August 1, 2012 #601 Share Posted August 1, 2012 I plan to tear through every item on every bar menu on the ship. This is my objective, I have 8 full days to complete it. I have looked at your amazing photo review several times to aid me in plotting my strategy so I thank you (and my liver curses you) in advance ! Good for you......I know my group and I never have any problem justifying the cost of the package.......it is even sweeter when we get the 10% off sale occaisionally.......... For me the idea of never even giving it a thought when ordering is worth the price........and it is also great when the bartenders have your seapass memorized.....so they don't even need the card to pour you a drink........that happens every time I have the package and its not just my card that they remember.....pretty incredible........ youwash Posted August 1, 2012 #602 Share Posted August 1, 2012 Hey there...we were on the Eclipse with you and your hubby last year. December i think. we were up in the rear bar the morning the ship was to leave, and I think my wife and I had a drink with you. We just booked the feb 24 cruise on the Silhouette. Should be fun. We went on the Allure of the Seas in march with all of our teens and had a blast. We will be joining you on Silhouette on Feb. 24th. Four sisters and one "adopted" sister and all the husbands. Adopted the new sister on Royal Carribean last Jan. We all got our beverage packeges on the discount-love those packages!
KAWS Posted August 1, 2012 #603 Share Posted August 1, 2012 Be nice if our TA threw this package in as a gift wouldn't it? :p The package for us is almost $600 per person. I mean I can drink, but........
Spartan1771 Posted August 2, 2012 #604 Share Posted August 2, 2012 I plan to tear through every item on every bar menu on the ship. This is my objective, I have 8 full days to complete it. Three years ago ten of us went on the Freedom of the Seas and attempted a bar crawl. We did really well, but once we got on the pool deck we never made it off. We just took over one of the large hot tubs and kept the party going. Since we have the premium beverage package on our upcoming cruise, I fully plan to have at least one of everything. I just need to remember that its a marathon and not a sprint. Gotta hydrate and pace myself.

kasimir Posted August 9, 2012 #607 Share Posted August 9, 2012 We are also great fans of the drinks packages, but since this will be our first Celebrity cruise I'm curious about the policy of buying the package. Do you buy the drinks package per person or per cabin? For us the premium drinks package makes a lot of sense, especially on our upcoming B2B cruise on the Infinity, where 15 out of the 30 days will be sea days ;)
innerfish Posted August 9, 2012 #608 Share Posted August 9, 2012 30 days... Roughly around $1500 pp for premium drink package? O_o

Do you buy the drinks package per person or per cabin? ... The unlimited beverages packages are priced per person with no sharing allowed. The packages which are for a set number of bottles such as the wine packages and the stateroom bar set up are basically a single charge per stateroom, or person ordering it, and you can share these as you'd like. Once they are gone you pay the same amount for a second refill or just order and pay as you go normally off the ships various menus.
kasimir Posted August 9, 2012 #610 Share Posted August 9, 2012 The unlimited beverages packages are priced per person with no sharing allowed. Thanks for the information, that gives us some flexibility with the drinks packages... I was asking, because not all of us are martini drinkers (or other fancy drinks) and some might be happy with the classic drink package, so ending up with one person having the premium and one having the classic package while being in the same cabin. 30 days... Roughly around $1500 pp for premium drink package? O_o True that, lots of $$$, but from past experiences thats what we would pay anyway per person (around $50 per day pp) since we enjoy a drink or two ;) Another bonus is that paying upfront will massively decrease the bill at the end of the cruise and we will not torture our creditcards after the cruise, especially when being on a boat for 30 days. pke-atlanta Posted August 9, 2012 #611 Share Posted August 9, 2012 A couple of questions: are you able to purchase the drink package online before your trip? Similar to excursions? Also, I"m accustomed to tipping the bartender something extra when I've been paying for each drink - especially when I'm given a heavy pour. Is this not expected with the package, or how do others handle this? Thanks.

You may also purchase drink packages onboard. 15% gratuity is added to the drink package price, but we still 'cash tip' our favorite barteners/servers. We are huge fans of the drink package - not just for the alcohol (which is nice, of course:)), but it's nice to enjoy bottles of Evian water while at the pool, Pellegrino water at dinner, Irish coffees in the evening, an occasional can of soda ........ Enjoy - and cheers!

The bartenders all gave us great service throughout the cruise, they never seemed worried that they were not receiving tips with every drink. At the end of the cruise we visited all our favorite bartenders and gave them a nice parting gift. This worked out well for us since we don't usually carry around cash for tipping during the cruise. Spartan1771 Posted August 10, 2012 #615 Share Posted August 10, 2012 If we were to purchase the premium beverage package, would there be any point in also purchasing the in cabin bar set-up? Does the premium beverage package include room service as well? The premium beverage package (unlimited) does not include room service or mini bar purchases. But you can bring drinks back to your cabin from the bars and lounges - but just one per package at a time. To me it is difficult to imagine that it would be worth both the unlimited package and th stateroom setup, but perhaps it would be to you or others. gymjudge55 Posted August 12, 2012 #618 Share Posted August 12, 2012 Just returned from a 7 day to Alaska on the Millennium. We both purchased the premium drink package and loved it. Sample day with prices: American coffee in Cafe Bacio $4.00 Aspen coffee mid day $8.00 Pyrat Mai Tai x 2 mid afternoon $18.00 Pre dinner martini $10.00 Wine with dinner x 2 $18.00 Evian with dinner $4.00 Casino drinks x2 $14.00 This was about the same for us port days or not. On long port days we had martinis, coffees, wine and casino drinks. It was a great investment for us.
jannandjohn Posted August 12, 2012 #619 Share Posted August 12, 2012 I am also primarily a wine drinker, almost exclusively. So are you saying you can order wine by the bottle and keep in your cabin? Then I could have a drink on the balcony while getting ready for dinner and another before bed. Love Sauvignon Blanc. Thanks, Sue I have ordered five bottles of wine from Celebrity, i am hoping to have all of the bottles delivered to the cabin at the same time, I do not want to drink it in any of the restaurants etc... Having some friends for drinks in suite on a certain day. I thought I had ordered all the same type...clicked on type wanted...but the wine section my online booking just shows that I have purchased a 5 bottle package..so how do I know if will get the wine I chose when I booked and paid for it, and if its not in the cabin when we board, how do I deal with that, and who do I speak to about getting it delivered( all together) Thanks in advance:)

Thanks to all of you for the info.Sandcar Sandcar - A couple of times a year, Celebrity will offer a 10% discount on the beverage packages. If you have already purchased the package, you can wait until the discount is offered, cancel, and repurchase at the discount. By the way, we had the premium package on our recent cruise and loved it. Our sommelier asked us what we ordered for dinner and than paired wines with our selections. Some of the wines were on the by the glass wine list and some weren't.

There is a limited choice, but if you find something you like it is worth it. There is also no 15% added. Since you just want it in your room, this would be the way to go. I have done this many times. If you don't finish them in your room, then they can be brought to the dining room for consumption without any corkerage fee. You can not use OBC to make any advance purchases. Thanks Joan sailing Adriatic Cruise on Silhouette, Oct/8/2013 The stateroom bar setup is for a single bottle of booze. If you want a variety of smaller quantities in your stateroom you can order individual drinks from room service or buy the single serving bottles from the mini bar. Room service and mini bar prices are the same as a lounges around the ship but are not included in any "package". If you really feel you must have a package as opposed to paying as you go with ala carte purchases then you can buy an unlimited package. These don't include room service nor mini bar but you can obtain drinks at any bar or lounge to take back to your cabin but only one at a time per package owner. Also, the stateroom bar setup includes 6 cans of soda type mixer of your choice. Juices are available at no extra cost to everyone from room service 24 hours a day.
