If you are staying at any of the hotels near the airport on W State Rd 84 and you like or want to try German food, go to the Old Heidelberg - http://heidelberg84.com/.

Their German food is really good. The place is crazy kitchy but that's what I like about it. Lots of German beer to choose from and on Saturday nights, they usually have live German music (accordion).

Recently I asked for recommendations for restaurants in Ft. Lauderdale for a pre-cruise dinner. Many people responded with excellent recommendations. I've gone online and searched for info on them and compiled a list of those restaurants along with their web pages. Hopefully those interested will find this helpful.

We are staying at the Fairfield Inn on Griffin Rd. My question is to get to a nice restaurant near the beach is there transportation? We get there around 6pm and would love to sit down to a dinner by the ocean our 1st night before our cruise. Any help would be greatly appreciated. O hand not pay an arm and a leg......

We are staying at the Marriott also at the end of March before our cruise. I read on the hotels website that they will shuttle you to restaurant.

We will be spending a day,on Las Olas Blvd. before a cruise and I'm wondering where a great place to eat supper would be?

We tried 3 restaurants in Fort Lauderdale, all by recommendation on Cruise Critic and Trip Advisor. In order of our preference:

Sandbar Grille: You'd need a car to get there, but it's that "hidden gem" type of place with excellent food, literally right on the beach.

Kelly's Landing: A little place in a strip mall near the port with incredible "New England" seafood. Best fried oysters and scallops I have in years--maybe ever! If it was just on the beach it would be perfect.

15th Street Fisheries: Fun stop on the water taxi, but it didn't hold a candle to the other two restaurants.

We stay at the Courtyard Marriott at 440 Seabreeze when we go. Right across the street on the inland waterway is Coconuts Restaurant in behind the dive shop. Love it.

This looks great! We are staying at the Gallery One. We plan to use water taxi. Do you know what stop we would use to get to coconuts?

Thank you so much!

We recently returned from a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale, and this thread was very helpful as we considered our dining options. We stayed at the Hyatt Place, and wanted to eat somewhere within a reasonable walking distance.

We decided on Kelly's Landing, and it was a great choice. The food was very good, and the hospitality/service was outstanding. Really friendly, and so helpful with menu recommendations.

CIQ,

Gilberts one of my favorite places to eat in FLL. It is nothing fancy but the food is great. It has some of the best burgers I have ever ate. A very friendly atmosphere and is just a few minutes walk from ES. I am looking forward to eating there once again this January.

Is there a "main drag" near the port that has a lot of these restaurants and maybe shopping? Trying to decide on a hotel near the port, but would like a busy area with things in walking distance since we won't have a car. Similar to International Drive in Orlando. Thanks!

We had an informal meet & greet for folks coming down to Ft. Lauderdale early at Big City Tavern on Las Olas for brunch. They are very generous with their bottomless mimosas, and the food was great! They were very accommodating with our party not all showing up at the same time. Highly recommended!
