Best full transit NOT on a cruise ship

Hello all, I have booked a cruise out of Colon, Panama, that heads eastward towards Aruba, and does not go through the Panama Canal itself. I would like to stay an extra day in Panama both before and after the cruise. I will need to get to/from the airport in Panama City, to the cruise port in Colon; and would like to do a full transit on the canal on one of the smaller, local companies. Suggestions?

 

P.S. Would like to take the train one way, and the full transit the other.
