Magens Bay Beach

We are on a Princess ship and wanted to go to Magens Bay Beach for the day, can we get a cab from the dock or do we need to go into town?

You can definitely get a cab from the pier or prearrange transport through one of the local tour/taxi companies.

Yes, lots of cabs at the pier to any beach. Often the cab driver will return to pick you up at a predetermined time. And on one occasion he didn't want any money until the return leg.

Have done this three times, here is what to do: outside the main area there is a taxi stand. Tell the dispatcher where you want to go and he will direct you to an open-air safari style taxi where everyone is going to the same place. Magens is very popular, no worries. The cost will be a set flat rate of either $8 or $9 per person, each way (depends which pier you dock at). There is a $4.00 per person admission fee to Magens.

 

You will be dropped off there and can stay as long as you want. There will be drivers waiting in the parking lot ready to take you back to your ship when you are finished (they just talk or play cards until their cab is full). Make sure you tell him which ship it is, because he will take everyone to the same ship, neat and sweet. You do not have to pre-arrange a ride back, trust me, there will be lots of drivers waiting. They just wait until their taxi is full so it may be a few minutes, no big deal.
