AttilaTheFun Posted October 6, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2011 We're leaving this Sunday for Key West and I just read through the car rental agreement and it notes that most tollroads in the area don't have an option to pay cash - it's all automatic now. That being said, if we don't go further than Key West and Stock Island, are there any toll roads to worry about? The rental car options are either pay $6 per day for the toll sensor thingy (very technical term ;)) or get hit with a $25 fee (plus the cost of the toll) if you don't and try to go on a toll road. We'll have the car for 4 days, but if I can avoid paying for the toll sensor thingy, I'd prefer that.
biker@sea Posted October 6, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2011 Sunpass is used if you leave the keys on the mainland. No tolls in the keys.

The closest is the Florida turnpike, which starts all the up in Florida City. The agreement is referring to Florida's charge-by-tag system where your license plate is photographed and you are billed, or the sensor (SunPass) is charged. But like I said, unless you go on a 3 hour (one-way) road trip, you will never see it. No toll roads in the Keys.
