drew sailbum Posted October 6, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2011 Every few months I try to post the latest update. Some past history is in this thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1257841 Latest scoop is planning moving forward towards a hoped-for final development agreement with another company, China Harbour Engineering Company. Possibly (maybe, not for certain, might happen or might not, timeline not yet finalized, etc...) construction could commence as early as December 2011. Based on previous project estimates a one year construction period, give or take, might have a new berthing dock in use for the 2012-2013 high season. This proposal would also include works to significantly upgrade the alternate tendering site in Spotts. That is the location used occasionally in winter months when the winds turn direction with passing cold fronts. It is a lot to work out, for sure. Government seems eager to get something underway. There is a real recognition that every ship that does not stop due to a lack of berthing facilities is a lost opportunity. There seems to be a good focus on improving the cruise passenger experience. We hope you all enjoy our little island and we'd like to see you come back for a week on a land based vacation to soak up even more of the sun, sand and warm clear water that Cayman offers. :)
eh2zed Posted October 7, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 7, 2011 That would be a welcome addition. Had to sail by once and got in the second time. Love 7MB.
